No wonder Songok won. Apparently he weighs 0 pounds.

Shadrack Songok, twin brother of 3:30, 7:28, 12:48 Isaac Songok wins the NCAA 10k and it's called an upset? Go figure.
malmo- were you joking or did you go with the odds of the last name and the birthday? Shadrack and Isaac are not twins, I asked Shad myself.
It is true that Corpus is pretty much like Mombasa -- some mighty thick air and high dew points down here near the Gulf!
Another fun fact, TAMU Corpus Christi does not even have a track.
all of texas is a high heat, high humidity sauna in the summer. NOT the place to put in summer miles! Houston is the worst as it is closer to the gulf but Dallas and Austin (where I lived are pretty bad). But...it makes you tough to beat the heat!

Dale, (1)it was reported elsewhere that they were twins. As you would expect, I doubled-checked internet biographies for (2)birthdate, (3)place of birth AND (4)number of siblings (six brothers and sisters) in their immediate family -- all matched.
Amazing coincidences (unless Shad has something to hide or is playing with us!). I knew you would do your due deligence malmo. I had the pleasure of treating the TAMUCC team this year and traveled to NCAA's with their two qualifiers. It was very cool to see Songok improve this season and pull off the win.
*diligence*
Given the inherent syzygy of all of those details, I'd lean towards a misunderstanding than trickery or a huge coincidence.
Then again, it could be the KAA at work again.
Shadrack Songok on April 25, 1984 in Kapsabet, Kenya...is the son of Solomon and Albina Kogo...has six siblings...major is chemistry.

Isaac Kiprono SONGOK (son-GOK), Kenya (1500m/cross country)
Born 5 April 1984, Kaptel, near Kapsabet, Nandi District, Rift Valley Province, Kenya.
Former student at St. Patrick's High School, Iten, Keiyo District.
Second of seven children. Father small-scale farmer.
another fun little bit about Isaac from an IAAF story (notice the reference to 8 children):
"Songok was born in the village of Kaptel near Kapsabet, about 70 kilometres from Iten. It is, coincidently also the birthplace of Bernard Lagat. The Kenyan born American citizen was pleased to learn recently that the shoes he donated to the village were used by a very young Isaac Songok since most Kenyan boys will not receive proper track shoes until they are into their teens. Songok, in fact, used the shoes when he won the World Youth 1500m title in Debrecen, Hungary.
The second youngest of five boys, he also has three sisters. Though he is thoroughly committed to his athletics career he does miss his siblings and makes it a point to visit as often as possible."

Henry Rono, who started running when he was 18, got his first pair of shoes at age 21 -- when he joined the Army.
...the question remains: Can Rupp still run as fast in a 400m as he could in H.S.?

While Rupp was wasting his time running 2 meaningless 10,000 meters (Sydney in December) and the 1st Stanford meet (pacing Goucher)...plus the 5/10 double at Pac 10, perhaps he should have run a few quality 1500's with AJ. IMHO Rupp is done for the year, due to a mind-numbing spring racing schedule. Same can be said for McDougal...he is toast also. Don't mean to sound harsh; just pragmatic.
I'm curious to see how rupp trains since he does seem to be aerobically fit. Is he a lydiard guy or does he do something else?
