Your arguments and comments are ridiculous, and to defend Joyce is hilarious--even if the remarks made by the athletes in the article were bordering on sexist or whiney.
She is not above reproach for her actions. For if you are in the loop at Cal nearly as much as you claim, you would know that some of her decisions have been less than appropriate.
I know, I am posting anonymously here as well, but I am not calling for anyone's credentials or identity.
No, you may not be calling for anyone's credentials or identity but you certainly are questioning the integrity of a D1 coach that is a 3-time Canadian National Champion and has competed at the highest levels of track and field, including the Pan-Am Games and the World Championships.
Quite frankly, for someone that enjoys posting as often and negatively as you do about the Cal program, I find your hiding behind the anonymity of the internet to be most hypocritical, let alone the act of a coward.
You imply with your posts that you are in the loop at Cal and go onto making unsubstantiated claims on the internet about "less than appropriate" behavior on her part, but my guess is that you have never even met Coach Joyce before. I would also guess that your resume pales in comparison to hers. She's sending four D1 athletes to NCAA's . . . What have you done lately in the sport?
Time to put up, or shut up.
Your drivel has become boring.
This again goes back to some of the roots of the problem we see so often in Track here. Just because someone competed at these high levels that justifies them as a great coach. I have coached some excellent athletes that have competed on USA teams and they are some of the last ones that would be good coaches. Not saying this is the case here but in many scenarios like this.

Is this about Huffins, Joyce, or Fetzer? I'm not sure which would be most scandalous...the african american male coach, the female coach, or the young, good-looking assistant.
First thought was this is great. However, when all is said and done this is the best thing for Cal. The program as no where to go but up ( 9th place finish out of 9 on the mens side in conf. )I think you may find ( or maybe they sweep it under the rug ) that the Cal athletic dept. is doing an investigation of the "things" going on in Berkeley. Sucks for the athletes though. And what about the recuits?
Also, While Johnson has had a super season and is a favorite to win the 800 I think that there is a young lady in Michigan that ran 2:01 last weekend who must also be considered. Just my .02
Go Stanford :-)

And what "things" would those be?
Care to be more than just an anonymous internet poster throwing mud and trying to create even more uncertainty?
Given that Cal has 16 track and field athletes qualified for NCAA's ( Stanford has 20 ), I would not look upon the Cal program as having nowhere to go but up. Your characterization is misleading. They have already had a pretty solid showing in both indoor and outdoor track and field this season. With the recruiting that they did this past year, the Bears will continue to be successful.
Track Dude/Cal Alum/All the Cal lovers never seem to reveal their identities, yet they reprimand those who hide behind the letsrun anonymity. if you're going to stand there and say "stop making anonymous claims!", then you yourself should sign your name at the end of the posts!!! Don't just tell everyone else to.

With all due respect, you are wrong.
My identity is well known, and you don't have to look too far to obtain my actual name, or my credentials.
The Cal alums and current athletes that frequent this thread ( and LetsRun for that matter ) are not the ones that are making personal attacks and questioning the integrity of a coaching staff.
There is a big difference between defending one's program and stating Facts - - - as opposed to making personal attacks that are unsubstantiated, such as the one made earlier that Coach Joyce was involved in "less than appropriate" behavior."
That comment was completely unsubstantiated and personal in nature.
I'm sorry that you are unable to make that important distinction.
LOUD NOISES!!
Chris Huffins is an idiot..we got that.Good riddance..but WHO IS GOING TO REPLACE that guy???any word?
"faze"
"truly"
Joyce has/had no business coaching at this level she is a good thrower but what does that have to do with your coaching if you can't put points up at one of the toughest conferences around in the throws. Most of her throwers were from the previous coach who was fired by Huffins to allow her to become coach there. Most of the new group of throwers there were recruited and sold a bunch of bs by Huffins, most of them have not reached their potencial and some have left. Bottom line is that historically good throwers have gone to Cal and they will continue to do so because of the school. Joyce couldn't produce results from these kids because she doesn't know how to coach and handle them. Taking super talented athletes who are severly underperforming to nationals is not a sign of good coaching just luck.
My money is on Coach Fetzer taking over the head coaching position for the next year. He is well liked and has great communication and management skills.
The Women probably believed in her system while the men were just being a bunch of punks and not repecting or believing in her system, hence their performances suffer.
Does Ed Miller have a shot at being the head coach at Cal, or does his association w/Chris take him out of the running?
Seems that Ed was a finalist five years ago...
Anyone in the know on who else was considered when they hired Chris?
Deanne Vochatzer?
Cal needs young blood, not a retread!
What a mess!
