The last 3 and change. Focused on Defar the whole way, only showed the rest of the field when they were shwing just how far ahead Defar was ahead of the rest of the field.
Yeah, about 20 years ago I used to be grateful for any T&F on TV and I gladly put up with Rawson & Stones, but by now I have had it with their irritating cliches and inanities.
A casual viewer tuning in would be completely confused by Rawson's repeated reference to the wind being "legal." He never explains that this only matters for record or statistical (list) purposes, so casual viewers are going to think that the race didn't count at all if the wind was not "legal." Hey Larry, just quit talking about it unless it is a very good time and the wind is over 2.0 mps, then explain it more clearly. We hard-core fans will get the actual wind readings off the Web later.
And what is it with Rawson's tortured, incessant, conversions of meters to miles, meters to yards, laps on a high school track, ad nauseum? Drop it! It's a race, they're going to run "X" number of laps, bang, and they're off. How many yards? Is it windy? Who cares? It's a friggin' race and it's happening NOW--enjoy it for what it is!
I don't watch football and baseball, but are they constantly converting yards to meters? Do they say "Reggie made a great touchdown run, but it was against a crappy team?"
A few years ago someone posted a drinking game involving Rawson's cliches:
Leg turnover
Boys, and girls, run through the tape
The arm action leads the feet
_____ laps around your local high school 1/4 mile track
Human hydroplane
Metric mile
BTW, I must say something GOOD about track on TV. The FSN 2-hour, one-week-delayed show of the Pac-10 Championships showed 11 laps of the men's 5000 meters. A lot of Rupp hype was in evidence, but good for FSN for showing nearly the entire race.
felix...22.5.......wairner...44.6
Frankly, did it look like anyone besides Defar DESERVED to be shown in the two-mile?
Gator, I'm just grateful that Carol wasn't there with the NBC regular anchor. Also, that was an excellent/complete 5000 showing of the Pac-10 Championship.
Today:
Women's 1500m
8 JEN RHINES USA 4:09.52
Last March:
MARATONA DELLA CITTA DI ROMA, ITALY
4 Jennifer RHINES USA 2:29:32
I've got a crush on her range.
I thought the meet and the coverage were both really good, biggest flops, X dude & Mo.

god, i hate the espn commentators
Classic Letsrun.com Bitch that the sport is not getting coverage, then when it does, bitch about how much it sucks. Great job.
Athurb - little girly boy, "mommy they didn't show what I wanted to watch." Boo hoo.
I was on a plane while the meet was being telecast, but
luckily I was on Jet Blue, so I had my own Direct TV.
Unfortunately, my screen went dead about mid-way through the meet. What are the chances, with over 150 seats on the flight, and I get the dead TV? Fortunately, my DVR was smart enough to record it, so I've watched the first half hour or so and am looking forward to viewing the rest sometime soon.
Andrew Famiglietti is my favorite athlete!!! I'm glad ESPN never gets my name wrong.
