You maintain your own U.S. performers spreadsheet, Malmo? Very nice!
You want by performance?
How did he only run 13:30 last week.

the group ran about 13:45 pace until Rupp went to the front with 1200m to go and ran about 3:01 for the last 1200m... about 4:10 total for the last 4 laps.
Moran and Carney are up there with some big names for sure! This is fantastic, these two and Kirkpatrick (despite his relatively sub-par showing today) are all doing incredible, mixing it up with the Olympians.
3:01 for the last 1200m??? are you serious?? that's freakin' amazing. can't wait for rupp to get out of college and train for the big boy races.
You understand that that 3:01 is for the 5k at Oregon, right, not this 10k?
oh, my bad. still, that's pretty damn good for the last 1200 of a 5000. although, it was probably off a bit slower pace. can't wait to see what the future brings.
just so you all know and can be very jealous i am now the proud owner of the very breathe right nasal strip that rupp used during his incredible 10k victory earlier tonight.
booyeah.

I thought these guys would run a minute faster (than McD's time).
Damn! That race was fast. Even Michael Aish set a big PR.
Ritz has fallen behind yet another US runner.
The IAAF story says the opening 5000m was 13:54.5, that puts his closing 5000m at 13:38 or better...wasn't that his 5000m PR just a couple weeks ago?
27:33? YIKES.

I'll bet if you keep looking, you can find some other guys who had bad races too. Must...counteract...positivity! Too many sub-27s...too much happiness on the boards...

I cannot believe how ridiculously that race was. 22 guys broke the meet record
No.

I agree, 22 beat the meet record
No!

The meet records are off, I know a number of guys have run mid 27s at this meet.
YES!!!
The meet records were off.
Rupp with an incredible time! #7 US All-Time! Collegiate Record!
He's got back-to-back wins now over some big names. Rolling for sure!
Another bad race for brandon leslie
CARNEY! CARNEY! CARNEY…….never qualified for the state championship XC meet in HS! 4:29, 9:55 PR’s. He and Brian Sell, both HS class of ’96 guys from Pennsylvania are truly in the upper stratosphere of greatest nothing to something distance runners in US History. I ran against Carney in HS and am just mind boggled by what he has gone on to do…and much of it self coached. Amazing.
I agree with Seth...while at UMKC he was good and you could see the potential but knew it would not happen there...the only thing i told him when he left is that he would probably have to lose the ipod during his workouts at Arkansas...I am very happy for him...
By the way does anyone know his e-mail address...I would like to contact him...
This is terrific news about Rupp, but doesn't it look like he faces the prospect of running a LOT of track 10,000s this year? He's indicated he wants to go to Osaka, so that's the USAs and Worlds for sure. And won't Oregon want him to do Pac-10s ...and NCAAs?
Maybe he'll just do the 5k at Pac10's and NCAAs?
Don't know, but it would seem like a lot of 10ks if he ran them at all those meets.
He's improved over his PR big time, Rupp + coaches must be doing something right. They probably know what they're doing as far as a racing schedule goes.
