I ran my first race 40 years ago next month, and ran my 1055th at Boston two weeks ago at age 54. My highest year for races was 3 years ago (43) and I still love going to them. The entry fees sort of suck now though. I tend to go more for the long trail races now and even manage some top 3 finishes now and then. I was never very elite but by persevering and running in lots of races, have won just under 200 races. The hope of lucking out, and being as fit as I can be, keeps me going to races for possible wins and if not a win, just putting in the best effort I can. I also will be at the Cambridge Classic Mile, but maybe not as a competitor.
