Try the Bros. Hanson, they just got a big contract boost from Brooks and are probably going to be accepting more women. You can get free pairs of the T5 to train in.

This is the first day this group has been announced and look at all the jealousy. The team is getting up to 8 guys so i am sure that would def. be a group then? Give it time, you will be surprise who will show up on this team.
I am all for this group and I think it is a great model that other coaches can follow...however, I do question how much individual attention Chapman can put towards his post-collegiate guys. His first priority every day is to his IU team and their development. Chapman has to draw up workouts for over a dozen guys, has to hit the recruiting trail hard, and set up meets and travel for his team as well. I hope this group thrives and I think it will to some degree, but how much of his energy can Chapman really provide to a group of eight to ten guys who are all needing their own workouts?
I am curious on the funding for this. Is IU paying out of their general budget or athletic budget? Last time i heard the iu athletic budget at a 5 million budget deficit. Or is it coming out of the track budget? Which wouldn't be good either.
I realize it is just some dorm rooms, but knowing how colleges count money, it will have some expense.
And being run through the university. Is Title 9 an issue?
I listened to both Coach Chapman and Coach Gary out in Vegas with regards to post-collegiate groups and are very much commited to helping however they might be able to.
I would encourage any distance event who believes they can qualify for Nationals to contact either one of these coaches.
They each have 3 athletes who have made National teams and look to make the Olympic team next year. I agree with the above poster; where else in this country aside from Team USA and Coach Mahon, has even 3?

Why does it have to be viewed as some sort of turf war and not simply a case of the new venture providing an extended and alternative opportunity that complements the great opportunity provided in the area by the established Invaders?
I didn't mean to indicate that their was a turf war, I was just suprised that two groups would be formed so close together, with somewhat common goals. It doesn't seem like the Invaders have every been able to fill our their roster on the distance side (particularly with men), though there are a few listed now. I'm not sure if having 8 distance guys training in Bloomington and 5 guys training in Indy is ideal -- why not have them training together? Different philosophies, I suppose.
BTW, the training climate in Indiana is just fine. Winters are pretty mild for the most part, and summers are tolerable. Obviously, there is a lack of altitude, but that never hurt Bob Kennedy. There are significant hills in the Bloomington area (unlike Indy) which could certainly be a positive for this group.
No post-collegian should need that much individual attention. They're freaking college graduates and should mostly be able to take care of themselves in this kind of setting.
I meant in comparison with places like San Diego.
Assistant Coach Haas handles a decent portion of recruiting and all of the equipment details for Chapman.
Invaders is more of an all-around Track Club. This Team Indiana is a pure distance club. Also, you can only start with the runners you have. Hanson's started small as well.

Justin Young should go to Bloomington. Didn't he grow up there or something?

The other difference is the level of support provided. Granted the team isn't developed yet, but Team Indiana provides housing and training facilities, whereas Indiana Invaders offer an established team, and have access to some of the facilities in downtown Indy. One group is ideal for a post-collegian who wants to devote themselves fully to training. The other is ideal for someone who is working part-time or full-time, and wants to have a group to train with.
Haas is a volunteer coach and shouldn't be contacting recruits (NCAA rules). The fat that he does may be one of the reason Chapman may be let go when they restructure at IU.
The group sounds great; I agree you can't coach both post-collegaites. Both groups will suffer and more importantly, NCAA rules will be broken if the two groups mix for training.

This is a pretty good description of how they are different.
Justin Young grew up in Illinois...
A volunteer coach can contact recruits if he does it on his own dime and passes the NCAA test.

Looks like a cool program, gotta wonder if the guys will like living in dorm rooms. Probably you could participate and live somewhere else.
they are graduate student apartments... shouldn't be too bad.
doesn't galen rupp train with a post collegiate group alot and not get in trouble
As a runner just out of college this group and location look absolutely amazing. What more could you ask for, great training facilities, place to live and with the location on campus, lots of oppurtunity for sexual conquests. If I was quite younger, not married and probably faster I would be all over this group. GO APPLY NOW!!!
A volunteer can only contact if he is one of the 3 countable coaches and has passed the test.
It has nothing to do with his own dime or such, that would fall into the booster category and is not permissable
