You are already athletic. Most people in the world are not. There are people out there who train their entire life, put in 50, 60, 70 mile weeks...and can't break 4 hours in the marathon (9min pace) or can't break 3 hours in the marathon (7min pace). this helps me in thinking about whether 50% is a legitimate threshold. as FW pointed out earlier though, the debate has largely been between those who think the answer is below 5% and those who think it is well above (e.g. 25% or higher). maybe you are right that it is closer to 30%, but i think most arguing "con" are arguing that it is a very small number, not just a bit below 50%.
