Every runner needs to see this one.
Damn.
"Stupendo Bekele!" cried the announcer. Hard not to agree. Pretty devastating.
Alcorn was an 8:54 guy in HS. You might know him from winning the NCAA Indoor 3k a few weeks back, and recently breaking 4:00 in the mile.
Tim Nelson was an 8:53 guy in HS, who is also a ~13:45 and ~28:00 runner as of last year. Not sure what he is doing now, but he was on the Wisconsin XC Championship team in 2005 and was their #2 guy in 2006.
Mohammed Trafeh was 2nd at Footlocker XC and ran 29:54 for 10k in High school. Ran for Arizona for a couple of years and didn't improve much, but he was pretty close to the top of the heap while he was in HS.
Great thread!
Dave Wottle?
best kick ever!
i don't know if you can really call it a kick but it looks like it and is a sick finish regardless
Don't for get the Italians. This was an awesome kick right at the finish line.
This thread MUST be bumped. It's a classic.
Sorry if it's been posted earlier in the thread, but I love this one: Manzano leads all the way (*cough* proper starting mechanics *cough*) and kicks from the front:

Say what you want about Webb, but this is awesome...
I wish I could find a video clip of the IL state meet when Don Sage ran 8.42 for the 3200. At the end of lap 7 he and Tim Keller were neck and neck; Sage won by 15 seconds...
Yeah, on Withrow's 1600m finish (at his senior year high school state), the last 400 is in 52.7. 52.7. He starts his kick at 350 and doesn't stop. I was there and it was freakish. I hope he comes back from his injuries and makes it as a pro runner cause his abilities are certainly good enough. Check it on you tube
This is in my oppinion one of the best ever. The Legend, Obea Moore on the anchor leg for muir.
For all you tri haters...
