indiorunner, what you are talking about has been discussed on other threads recently. If some individuals want to start groups and actually approached some of those companies you mentioned, I bet some of them would jump on board. The thing is no one is really going to those companies and showing how both sides could benefit. Also, as compared to a cycling squad, a running team needs far less money to be successful. Vin Lananna once was quoted as saying it would take a one million dollar budget to really accomplish everything he thought necessary in a training group each year. That is so much less than the budgets of most top level cycling teams. I wonder how much Hansons gets each year?
