Acosta's had two coaches move on in the past 6 months.
It's hard to find good baby sitters these days.

No way Vin Lananna leaves his coaching post. That'd be like Joe Newton leaving his coaching position at York to become the athletic director. Makes no sense really. Oregon's just starting to get on a roll, no way Vin can leave them in mid stride.

you haven't seen his history of doing exactly that?
Joe Newton doesn't have to leave his post at York, the state athletic association is making him leave it. Vin has already left a great coaching job once why would it be a stretch for him to do so again?
Doesn't Salazar have his eyes on this job, or what about Hudson? They all seem to collaborate.
The word on the street is that Vin is moving on and that they offered the job to Jerry Schumacher but he turned it down after flying out there to "talk". They are going to bring Pat Tyson in this week. Don't know any more than that.

That's a stupid move if Vin takes the job. AD is a political postition, and not an athletic position. Oregon has no exposure in the sports world outside of a few press releases about the famished white aboriginal running team. If Vin wants to be a politician he should take the AD job at a major NCAA sports campus.
This was obviously written by someone with an in-depth knowledge of the Oregon Athletic Program. Top knotch athletic facilities, membership in one of the best "Total Sports" Athletic Conferences, Consistent Top 25 rankings in all Revenue sports and most non-revenue sports (ex fall sports, Mens Football - highest ranking of 11th, Womens Soccer - highest ranking of 19th, Mens XC - ranked as high as 5th, Womens Volleyball, ranked as high as 18th - Women's XC was the only fall sport that Oregon had that wa not ranked in the top 25 at some point. But I guess it is an athletic backwater. Oregon is one of only 4 athletic programs that actually turn a profit..... Oregon has averaged 108% of capacity for home football games since 1998 - but that means nothing. Autzen staduim is ranked as one of the top 10 Cathedrals of College Football by The Sporting News.... Mac Court is the oldest on campus basketball arena in the U.S. - both facilities are consistently ranked as the "toughest places to play in the Pac-10 by their peers - but then again, that is no indication of a school with a major athletic program.
Yeah dude, you know what you are talking about......
they might bring in peter tegen from stanford, he's tired of coaching girls...
My Nike people are telling me that, contrary to the previous poster, that Schumaker is packing his stuff in Madison as we speak---getting ready to begin coaching the Ducks already this spring.
if it's pat tyson is it going to be the real pat tyson, or the much better breckin meyer played pat tyson???

You are correct. I had originally heard from a Duck Booster that Centrowitz had been the original choice, but Vin nixed it after the story in the "City Paper" broke. I believe it was just a pretext to avoid hiring a "Nike guy" rather than a "Vin Guy". I don't think of Jerry as a Vin guy though, so going to him after blowing 2 out of the last 3 NCAA's was a bit of a shock. I think Gerard lost any chance by abandoning Vin's spot at Stanford so quickly. Andy is too green and Gags doesn't want to recruit, so who is left? That is why Jerry got the call. I hadn't heard that Tyson even got a chance to express interest.
The best story is that some of the Nike Mafia wanted Alberto in as coach. Vin nipped that in the bud, but at the cost of some political capital. I heard that Salazar didn't want to anyway so Vin made his first mistake in Track Town on that one.

Definately Breckin Meyer, and Jared Leto has signed a letter of intent to compete next fall. Hold onto your shitkickers.
wouldn't be shocked to see jerry come in. his salary at wisco was posted this summer and i remember it being lower for what a national championship coach should get. i'd think that he wanted the head coaching job at wisco but i don't see nuttycomb or whatever his name is leaving any time soon.
centro is overrated.
any one know who else got offered the job? louie q would be amazing in eugene!
Is it true that McDonnell has been spotted inspecting ranches above the Willamette Valley for possible purchase? Tired of Coach Nutt getting all of the good publicity in Fayettville despite a much shorter resume than the legend.
Acosta seems like real wild card that could prevent an established coach from being interested. There can't be too many guys waiting in the wings who are eager to coach that self-promoting schmuck head.
what coach wouldn't want to form one of the fastest high school miler's ever into a ncaa champion? acosta is the real deal like it or not.
Scott Raczko will be on campus collaborating with the Kranicks next fall.
Louie Q might work.
Truth is, there is some real pressure out there. Jerry does not like that; he likes his little world in Madison.
People need to realize that not everyone wants to be a head coach.
Lastly, Vin is NOT going anywhere. He will not leave his coaching position !
I think Louie Q. could be a prime choice. He lost two great female recruits based on ASU location alone. If LQ goes to Oregon, watch out!!!!!!
If true, Jerry is the only guy! Don't forget that Jerry is coaching Sarah Schwald and Teg, Riley (other Nike athletes). I am sure Nike would love to add to the Athletics West feel out in Eugene with potential Olympians living out there.
