What do you do and where do you work?

You should focus on running more mileage. I didn't break the $100K barrier until I put in consistent 70-80 mile weeks for a full year. Also, be sure to do striders at least twice a week. Good luck!
My bet would be some job where he works 90+ hour weeks, has no life outside work, and is generally miserable. But hey, at least you can come on letsrun, post your salary, and feel good about yourself.
If Im wrong I apologize.
100k a year? I make 100+k a month.

That's a pretty crappy pay raise schedule. You only want to be making $100k in 3 years? That's an average yearly raise of only about 6%. At your age, I would think your pay would be increasing faster than that, but if that's enough to make you happy, whatever.
In case you are not a troll...
An honest answer to your question....
I recently started making over $100k, and I just turned 27.
I am not sure if that is early or late for my field, I am pretty sure I make more than my friends who are not doctors or lawyers.
I am in Marketing, a soul-less industry. I am hoping to do this another year or two and then teach... If I can avoid the golden handcuffs.
My wife wants me to quit, mainly because I work all the time, and we aren't super spenders, so I think it is possible.
What do you do?
ibanker at CHASE. I don't mind working all day because I only need an hour a day to run. my plan is to get but ass rich and retire at 35 or 40
I'm 39 and I'm nowhere close. But I don't really see the need to be close either.
I can't really think of anything that I could buy (and which I cannot currently afford to buy) that would make a significant difference in my current quality of life.
In fact, I can't really think of much that I could buy that would make even a small difference in my current quality of life.

I dont understand how you plan to be making only 100k by late 20's, yet retire "but ass rich" 8-12 years later, unless you do one or both of the following:
1. move to a third-world country where 100k is a lot.
2. win the lottery.
good luck. give some to charity.

Perhaps he was just asking an honest question for some fun. Maybe he enjoys the work he does, or is simply willing to make sacrifices now for future gain. I'm very glad that you are able to make a judgement about him being generally miserable and having no life outside work.
The point I'm trying to make is that the only post I've seen that indicates somebody trying to find a way to feel good about themselves is yours. You should apologize now.
If you don't mind me asking, what type of company do you do marketing for? Size of company, etc. If you don't want to give the name of the company, I understand. I'm just curious

agreed.

net.
I know a few who are pulling in $150k a year, and work maybe 20 hours a week... Now THAT'S the life!
what a dick. you are not you're job, asswipe
You may be right...didnt mean to come across like a dick. However, I have a fair amount of friends in the i-banking industry, and they are all miserable, and have very little life outside work (although they do make a ton of money). I guess its a matter of personal priorities. Apologies to the original poster if you in fact love your job.
