Whatever it may have been, Slattery's 'injury' didn't stop him from training and competing. He was AA last fall (28th).
Actually if my memory serves me, Slattery did miss a lot of training and the 28th place was impressive because of the missed training time. Based on Slattery's USATF steeple performance, he probably could be top 10 in NCAA XC if he has uninterrupted training.
