It will take Lance a few years of solid training to knock off 15 minutes off his marathon. His body needs to get used to all the pounding. I am built just like Lance (now) and I started running marathons in my late 30's. It took me 4 years to get into the 2:40's. Lance needs to get back to his cycling weight, run an average of 50 miles per week this year and needs to wear racing flats if he wants to run sub 2:50 next year. I don't know many guys who are 6'0, 165lbs. who can run under 2:45. If Lance really concentrates on marathons over the next couple of years, he could probably run around 2:40. It takes about 5 years of training to run your best marathon.
