Why don't they have cheerleaders for track and CC? Why does football and basketball always get the girls to cheer them on?
Let's demand it.

hell yeah, and fire breathing clown mdigets
They do have cheerleaders. They're called parents. No one else really cares.
Football and basketball both take place within a relatively small area. How are you going to have cheerleaders for a sport that takes place over 5 miles? Are the cheerleaders going to run along side the course? Reminds me of that add a few years ago with the marching band guys running along behind the xc runner.
Anybody remember that nike commercial with the Cheerleaders running behind the kid, that was pretty funny. Anyway I have been to some meets where the cheerleaders were out cheering and it seemed like they did not want to be there at all.
yes they should. It is discriminatory - there should be a lawsuit. XC runners should reap the reward of billion$.
Especially to comfort the team on the ride home from the meet.
My team wants them at the top of hills. I think they would be a great addition. We had a dual meet this year with about 500 spectators, TV, and newspaper coverage. It was a very exciting atmosphere on a very spectator friendly course. They would have fit in well and would have shown school spirit.
years ago when i coached h.s., i coaxed the cheerleaders into coming out for our "senior day" meet. there was a place on the course 1200m in where they formed a little corridor and did their cheers while the runners passed through. it was very much fun and added a surprising amount of excitement to the race. if i was still coaching h.s., i would still be doing it.
i had to do some nagging to get it done, but it was worth it.
Couldn't they at least give us a few ugly cheerleaders?
Hell no.
Except that the cheerleaders are physically stronger than nsome of the runners they are cheering for. Isn't this wrong?

I think this is the prime argument for the men's and women's XC teams not racing at the same time. I doubt you'll do any better than that in your quest for a female cheering section.
BTW, these cheerleader uniforms are not good.
Football and basketball are spectator sports. The cheerleaders aren't there just to cheer the team on, they are there to LEAD the CHEERing crowd. Also, in case you didn't notice, football and cross country usually take place during the same season.

on the positive side, having cheerleaders would at least double, if not triple, the average number of spectators at a race.
Why would anyone want to be a cheerleader? It's so demeaning. I don't get it.
Because, this would cause you to slow and ruin you attempt at a P.R. (might be worth it though). NOT WORK SAFE:
We don't need vacuous airheads for XC. I mean, we've already got Let's Run.
