Good interview, thanks for the link. It's interesting in all the smack talk about Broe during his interrupted outdoor season there wasn't one inkling about his foot injury, at least none that I saw. I liked his lactic acid workouts: hard track intervals with full recovery. A lactic acid workout is also a tempo run at 10k pace to my understanding. Wonder what insight Broe can provide to the Michigan XC team, any upset possibilities?
That was a great interview. Very interesting on Tim's view of the sport. Also, I thought it was awesome that he laid out his training program for everyone to read about. Great interview!
Next time you decide to compliment your own post under a different name, it might help if you deleted the telltale link from the previous post.
Oops... The durn link clue (smile). Seems like Zipperman/coolio would be all over this calling for a board banning.
I am glad you double-posted, though, cause it is a great interview, and I almost missed it.
Let me tell you East Peoria is just one ugly little do nothing place with no where to run. Broe won the state title from that place is big time!
That was a great interview and Illionoisrunner.com is the coolest site on the internet.
Just my unbiased opinion.
Laughing MAO. Anyway, I've often wondered if being in a small boring place helps one become a good runner. Lack of other stimulus? East Peoria, Coos Bay, Gillette, WY (although I think they have a pretty good coach there). Makes you wonder why we don't have some miracle team in the middle of Kansas--except for the fact that they don't have any hills.
Konro,
It's not the middle of Kansas, but suburban KC. Shawnee Mission Northwest HS, won maybe 15 of the last 20 KS large-class state XC titles, boys and girls. Best coach in KS, hs or college, Van Rose. Very Lydiard/JK based training.
That interview was nice. Whats the deal with all the big guys in Ann Arbor getting hurt though? I hope Broe can make a run at 13:05 or so next year, maybe faster. Also, will he try to break the AR for steeple? I am thinking he will.
Tim Broe being offered the Michigan asst. gig. Word on the street says Kevin Sullivan is seeking the U of illinois cc gig. Sullivan's wife is the women's distance coach.. Hmmm.. there goes that Michigan hotbed experiment.
