yeah wisconsin had sort of an off day...but thats still effing dominant
that level performance at nationals is a national title threat

surprised MN held out their true freshman...prolly coulda caught michigan...
what i've heard is that solinsky had the flu last week.
Whatever the problem was with Solinsky is besides the point. The fact remains that Wisconsin is not as strong as they were last year, despite returning nearly everyone. Without Withrow and Nelson running as well as last year, they will be badly damaged come nationals.
Returning nearly everyone?
They lost the national champ in Bairu, a top 20 guy in Ford, and then backup guys like Lockhart and Gregory. That hurts.
I agree that without Bairu Wisc is not a #1 this year but can win if Solinsky shows up mentally
Isn't this Solinsky's first off race in a looong time? He'll show up big on championship day.
Solinsky shows up mentally? What the hell does that mean? He is the most dominating runner in college right now, I don't think he lost today because he was "mentally" out of it.
you sir, are an idiot

Seriously, Solinsky is one of those freakin little girls who has just run SO hard that he can't make it 2 more steps without collapsing. Remember, was it two years ago, he collapsed at the line at Nats, and was drug off. Another time he didn't even make it the whole race? I've run hundreds and hundreds of races, and NEVER done this.
Toughen up Solinsky.
Start running hard you pussy. Have you won an NCAA championship? Have you accomplished anything in your running career? I doubt it, Solinsky owns you.
It was utter domination. Wisco is definitely the favorite still at nats. there's no such thing as a lock, but look at that top-5 spread: 35 seconds! Granted, had Solinsky destroyed like he could have it would have been closer to 50-55 secs, but that's still amazing. Not to mention Bethke looking like a pretty good insurance program in the 6th position. I realize this was a conference race, but it's not like any of them were holding back.
Solinsky 1
Eagon 8
Wagner/Nelson 15/16
Withrow 26
Team Score: 66
Rombough looks a lot like McDougal in this picture. Am I right?
why dint torchia run? hes already used his freshmen eligibility. and why didnt barrett from mn run? he would have helped the gophers alot. with those two guys, they should have been second as a team. congrats to rombough. unbelievable.
That is Antonio Vega.
Yeah I see the resemblance.
For the time I've been following him, Solinsky has never "not shown up mentally" for a big race. Conference may be a big race for you and I, but when you're Wisconsin, who cares? He has always showed up when it really matters. Remember when he got 3rd in the 5K at regionals? Yeah, that's because it didn't matter; that's all he needed to do. He wins when it matters. I'm not saying he's invincible, I think McDougal will be a challenge.
And what the hell is all this about him being like a little girl who runs so hard that he can't stand up afterwards? To most people that's a good thing douche. WHen he collapsed at that 5K, that was because of the heat. If you lived in Wisconsin, you'd probably have trouble with that too. He's a big guy, he's obviously got to exert more to run at the same level as other people.
i see that new penn st. coach really has that program headed in the right direction...down the crapper.
Speaking of down the crapper...what the hell is going on with Elizabeth Yetzer?!?!
Leave Garry out of this. Failing that, go ahead and continue spelling his name incorrectly.
What the hell are you talking about? I was at the meet. I saw it. Solinsky was killing everyone and looking good doing it. He had it wrapped up but took a spill in the last 1k. He got back up and tried to get back into it but had been passed by several people. He still ran hard to the line though. The fact that Solinsky did not win had absolutely nothing to do with his mental state or level of physical fitness. It had to do with bad luck and maybe some mud. It's that simple. This guy is a monster. Think what you want about him. I saw the race. This guy is ready.
Great run by Rombough though. He took advantage of the situation and ran tough. Eagon was charging hard at the end and Rombough held him off. Impressive.
Good race by Indiana as well, considering what they lost to graduation. They beat some teams they were not expected to beat.
