I finished the book yesterday and recommend it to anyone interested in Alan Webb's situation, which from the looks of the board topics over the past year comprises some 99% of posters.
One major thing I took away from the book is that NOBODY, including the top milers who post on here like Kevin Sullivan, Dan Wilson, and Steve Magness, has had to deal with the type of pressure Webb faced and still faces.
A few examples from the book; before one of Webb's races, some guy started filming Webb with a camcorder. Webb got freaked out and went into the bathroom for 5 minutes to sake him. When he came out, the guy was still there and contniued to follow him until Webb finally lost him.
People would also come up to him asking for autographs moments beofre one of his 1500's was going off as he was doing his last stride-outs.
One kid evn came into the bathroom as Webb was urinating to ask for an autograph.
Anyway, it is a good read.
