I heard Danny Glover is running for Cheyney this year. Operation Dumbo Drop is now Operation drop Edinboro. Look out Watts!

I would invest every bit of it in Slippery Rock stock.
stay true!
I'm sure others agree, what we really need if SRU is so great is Ride or Die 2007!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Considering the original is such a classic...
My prior point regarding Boro beating the Rock was simply stating that Boro is very good and they are undoubtedly the best our conference has ever seen at getting a whole team to peak at just the right time. That's not a subjective point...rather, it's simply a fact as witnessed below:
Men's Cross Country History: NCAA Championships - 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990.
NCAA Top Finishes - 2nd in 1981, 1984, 1985, 1989, 1993; 4th in 1998, 2000.
NCAA East Regional Champions - 1980, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002. PSAC Champions - 1980, 1981, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002
Now, with that said, I really WANT the Rock to win PSAC's and Regional's. Somehow, for some reason, I always like rooting for the underdog...and Rock has to be considered the underdog given the above. Perhaps it's because I like Weiss. The fact that he is a quiet, humble leader and one of the top 2-3 runners in the country is pretty damn cool. Or, perhaps it is the fact that the team has really geled well together and created an team environment we would all want to be a part of (and Regan was smart enough to realize this and do just that).
Perhaps it's the fact that I used to seriously date a girl that was a top 5 runner on the last SRU team to go to Nats and finish top 10...which meant that I spent lots of time running GO ROCK hill/wolf creek/Moraine/the Quarry, etc. and lots of time drinking beer (in a dry town none the less) and lots of time doing 30x400 meters on the "short" track that they used to have with Pappa looking on from time to time making a subtle comment every now and then "hmmmm...running pretty fast there. hmmm...doing pretty many of those."
But, more than likely...I just want to root for the ROCK because I want to see two things:
1.) A major battle take place at the front of the race for PSAC/Regional bragging rights
2.) Two PSAC teams finish in the top 5-6 at Nationals.
So after a few meets thus far this season how is everybody ranking the guys an girls teams now?
My pics
Men
1. Edinboro
2. Slippery rock
big gap
3. Lock Haven
4.Ship
5. Mansfield
Women
Not sure, don't really watch them to tell you the truth
I'm curious -- how BIG do you think that gap is? I bet it's not quite as big as one might think...at least not by the end of the year.
Also, I realize your potential bias, but do you really think Ship is better than Mansfield?
Hoovis
does anyone ever wonder what happens to Edinboro during track? I mean they invest basically everything into XC. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Hoovis you listed their XC accolades, what have they done in track.....just out of curiosity.
what i am getting at is, Edinboro lives and breaths for xc, and not much else. when you focus so hard on that one thing then damn it is hard as hell to beat you.
page 25, post by mcCabe should answer your questions. i believe there are also some points made by hoovis about the amount of snow edinboro receives at this time as well, and the snow lasts a good while from what i've learned from these posts, thus making training for winter, and even spring track a bit difficult.
I feel that Ship's top 3 are solid, Steven Thompson all-regional, Bryan Beegle 4:18 and 9:15 last year, and Jeremy Brady he wasn't in the action last year due to injury but he is healthy now and should be a great contributor. Then they have 4 or 5 guys to choose from for their 4 and 5 spots. If Josh and Gracey are back in action their top 5 could challenge for 3rd in the region if everything comes together. But right now that is in the air. But their 4 and 5 guys are better then mansfields 4 and 5 so that will make the difference come regionals.
What do you guys feel about that? Any body from mansfield wanna speak their opinion?
Yes i feel that the gap between slippery rock and lock haven will be aound 50 or 60 pts. Lock haven is a good team I am not saying they are bad, I just feel that Edinboro and Slippery Rock are setting themselves at a very very high level this year and I hope they race up their potential they showed coming from a great track season.
I would probably have Bryan Beagles children...thats what I think
I agree, Bryan is one of the sexiest guys I know, he has a bigger package than anyone I know from what i've heard from the kids from ship. I'm talking HUGE!!!!
Shizzy:
I can understand why you would think that Boro has not traditionally been strong in track, given that they haven\'t been so in the past few years. And, while they are definitely better at Cross, they are also one of (if not the) most successful PSAC team when it comes to middle and long distance track events.
For example, check out the all-time PSAC Performances.

The only middle/long-distance record not held (in full or tied) by Boro is in the 10K, and Brian Ferrari (who is an all out stud) has that one.
Hoovis
If your last name is Ferrari you better be a stud.
To say that Edinboro runners invest everything into XC is false.....
Track is very important for Edinboro runners....and they train very hard during the spring and traditionally run very well. The men have struggled a bit the past two years (I am sure that will change this spring) but As recently as 2006 Three members of the girls team were All-American in Track. In the 5k (8th), 10k (7th) and the steeple (3rd). In 2005 a member of the mens team was 8th in the 10k....
And Yeah the weather gets bad in the boro in the winter and spring but it has not stopped Edinboro runners from running well in track going all the way back to the 1970's. I have talked to GOOD Edinboro runners of every decade 70s, 80s, 90s, and beyond and they say the same thing....the weather is always terrible in the winter and spring. But you train through it and by April and May Watts will have you ready to run fast if you are healthy.
Oh and by the way I would take everything that "Macabe" says with a big grain of salt when it comes to Edinboro running. I will spare you the illustrious details of his shaded career at the boro.
Oh and here is a link of all the past PSAC champs by events...its pretty cool check it out alot of Edinboro runners.

careful he might stalk you
Boro has those great track runners, but they also have a fair share of those distant runners that disappear during the spring. PSACs 2005 comes to mind. Watts pulled most of his athletes from the 10k mid race, and then somehow getting them allowed to race the next day, pulls them mid race in the 5k. This seemed very peculiar.
I agree with Dirt about the rideor die 2007 DVD! HAHA I wish that we had a ride or die DVD when we had some partiers on our team my freshman year!!! That DVD would have f***in been classic with Sauls, DIrt, Trumbull, Myself, Duba and the rest of the crew! After that it went downhill! haha
haha! Ride or Die 2007. Quite an honor Cowan. and Dirt. honestly.
***BTW...don't forget that I dressed up as you in that video for Halloween!
Stay True Rock! Good luck to you guys, and everyone else!
I'll be at PSACs and Regionals w/ my retard roommates Gavazzi and Buckenmeyer. We're only about an hour away from Kutztown I believe, maybe a bit more.
Oh and not to change the whole topic of the thread, because it seems to be pretty good these days; but I did notice people talking about the stairs on 411. Jorge, remember what I saw when I walked up the stairs in 411?
yeah!
That is true Idef.feel honored to be a halloween costume! Thank you. And I'llprolly see you cats at regionals at the haven! We'll have to set up a place to stay there and go out after the races gents!
Everyone is invited!
