Ship never runs Paul Short hard though. I think Boro is going this year, so it'll be interesting to see how they treat it. Haven will probably go balls to the wall and blow their load to early again this season. They have a tough battle ahead of them if they want to make nationals. IUP and K-town are on the come up and are serious threats to Havens streak. More so IUP with their front runners. I'd even put Concord in the mix to go back to Nattys again. Everyone else is trash at this point and just pretending. Bloom, ESU, Rock all lack front runners and fighting to be the best mediocre squad. PSAC and region is garbage compared to previous years.
Ktown got whipped this weekend idk what you're talking about
With PSACs next weekend, what is everyone thinking now that teams have shown their cards this season? Ship adding in Stroh doesn't change the team picture too much but maybe the individual champ conversation. Women's team title seems less certain then the men's. Which individuals look like they should be in the hunt for the individual title?
Teams:
1) Ship
2) Boro
3) IUP
4) Lock
5) ESU
6) Bloom
7) KU
I don't think there's much wiggle room in the top 3, if Edinboro had Wefing and that kid who was 2nd last year they could probably beat Ship but they don't. IUP will soundly beat Lock Haven off the strength of their top 3 as long as Dalton Trump is back and healthy.
Lock Haven is kind of stuck in between the really good teams and the mediocre teams. I don't see anybody challenging them for 4th.
Kutztown, Bloom, and ESU will be in a battle to be the best mediocre team - ESU should walk over those two squads
After that, the conference is so bad there's no point even thinking about it. Some teams not in the top 7 will have good individuals up front, Brett George and Jeremy Parsons come to mind
I think it's interesting to see the decline in the conference. Things certainly aren't as deep as they were in recent years.
I like the theory that the state continues to underfund these schools and the programs suffer.
Austin Cooper of IUP will win soundly

Agree with that. Looking through results and seeing the top 5 times now for certain races, a few years ago those times would have been lucky to be top 20 or 30.
The top is pretty solid this year, the depth is terrible though.
I can't see any other reason beyond the underfunding and lack of scholarships compared to other schools in PA, MD, NJ, OH and NY.
I'm interested in seeing how things play out in the coming years (but not really, I don't want to see my beloved conference fall to some sham conference)
The men's race will come down to IUP's top 2, Edinboro's top 2, maybe a couple random guys up there, and Shippensburg's men if Coach Spence lets the guys go after it. CalU's top women will most likely take the individual title followed by the Edinboro freshman, and maybe the Shippensburg women.
Well, you also have consider the fact that Stroh has a broken jumper and is also a misogynist bigot
PSACS!!! LETSGO!

Name a concept that is more aesthetic than Rob Moser... I'll wait

PSAC has fallen on some rough times compared to the last time conference was held at Cal. Yeesh!
Facts. Even compared to last year the conference is weak af. Can't remember a time when the PSAC was this bad. All-conference at 28:25 just shows how the mighty PSAC has fallen. I'm mean what that would I'd been like 55th in 2010. Also, can't remember the last time a team from the PSAC wasn't ranked in the top 25 nationally and that happened a few weeks this year. I mean damn usually there was at least 2 or 3 teams ranked throughout the whole year. Although I'm certain Ship will be top 25 at nationals.
Make the PSAC Great Again
To be fair, the last time they held the conference meet at Cal, 27:30-40 was all PSAC and it was surely much warmer this year than it was there. That said, the conference isn't what it was a few years ago. 2015 was very impressive and things thinned out a lot. Lots of transfers and injuries in the top teams it appears. I suppose regionals will give us an idea of how fast/slow the conference really is with a nice 10k time trial.
In 2010, it was snowing during the women's and men's meet and the course was muddy from the weather throughout the week. That wasn't exactly a fast year for the course. It was however an insanely fast year for the conference. Ship, Haven and Edinboro were all top 12 caliber teams (even though only 2 made the national meet) and you had the likes of Dinzeo, and Plaszenski as the top non-team individuals. Dinzeo turned into and all-time PSAC great and Plaszenski ran 9:13 in the steeple that spring.
If you compare the PSAC in 2017 to the PSAC in 2010, 2017 looks very weak, but I'd bet if you compare the regional race in 2017 to all the other races @ Haven over the years, it will be a down year but not as terrible as the board is making it seem to be.
The depth of 2010 was insane.
Zondlo and Hahn were both sub 14:15 guys 2011/2012 track and they were 11th and 12th in that race! Anderson ran 14:04 and 29:41 in 2012 and 14:14 in 2011.
Hilton went pro after college as did Dinzeo and Monroe. Beegle, Schleander, Gilette, were all multiple time All-Americans.
There was immense depth and talent. It was exciting.
The current Ship team is very talented. The top of the conference is good. It just doesn't seem as deep as 2010.
Congrats to this Ship team! 3 conference titles in 7 years after NONE in the rest of our history.
It's frustrating that some of these coaches don't have the resources they need. I realize it's hard for them to bring in the talent it takes to build a great program.
That said, there are some coaches who have done an amazing job recruiting young unpolished runners and making them All-Conference athletes. Then there are coaches who don't even seem like they're trying. I don't feel bad for them. It's a shame for the conference that they are allowed to still have jobs. The fact that they have 28:30 kids getting all-conference sucks.
Some young blood in the conference is needed. Happy to see talented young coached like Ryan Foster joining the PSAC.
