...just to clear up the issue before I head to bed.
I've become friends with the better half of the distance runners in the PSAC. Nearly every outstanding runner in the PSAC is a class act (Weiss, Robo, Jorge, etc). Bluman and Pat are also very modest individuals when it comes to running and success.
Someone posted about Chris Geddis and what was said really isn't the case. He's a very hard working runner. He's also a very outgoing person. On top of that, his 5K pr is very respectable (14:47). He unfortunately has not been able to put together a solid performance at any championship meet yet. I know Chris has made a few comments to runners on other PSAC teams about his predictions of great success here at the Rock in the near future. By no means does he mean to put down other runners or schools, it's just merely his way of being excited about something. I've lived with chris for 3 years, and this past year our rooms were 2 feet apart so we've become great friends over the years. I feel qualified to speak on his behalf and say that he does not mean to put down other runners or teams. However, looking back on some of the things he has commented about, I can understand how others would easily and quickly become upset. I also want to prevent people from thinking that everyone on the SRU team makes the same comments becuase that is not the case.
I never heard Robson, Blood or Joe Wiggy brag about Lock Havens' success while it was happening, so why would someone brag about success that hasn't even happened yet????? That is what people are getting upset about. I'm just clarifying that by no means does Geddis mean to upset anyone, he's just excited.
My time at the Rock is done. I'm officially a spectator. As a final note, I feel I should mention that during my time in college, most of the SRU front runners spent the majority of their time speaking about the success of the Boro, Lock, and Ship teams. The atmosphere is more about admiration of other schools, not about what SRU could possibly do in the future. Atleast thats the way it was when I was there.
I wish my friends at SRU a very successful season. Undeniably the pieces of the puzzle are present, they just need to put it together. I would also like to wish the rest of the PSAC runners a great season.
As hoovis said, thats just the way some runners are. Laughlin was very forward with his success. I think that with all of the hard work that he has put in, Chris will ultimately race well when it matters. :) Will it be enough to help the Rock get past two very quality teams in Edinboro and Lock Haven? Well, who knows. Afterall, thats why they race...right?
