so... who r the young guns coming in for each team next yr? and maybe transfers?
Lets talk about how much EPO the powerhouse teams are on...
Latest blog post from a PSAC Alum... my current running status
http://huxleyrunningco.org/athlete-interviews/
Also, KU runner, Carolyn Fergus, has partnered with Huxley and will be blogging weekly about make the transition from high school to college successful. Read her first installment!
Enjoyed catching up with a number of former PSAC'ers at the Olympic Trials in Eugene.
Saw a number of Ship Folks:
-- Neeley Spence
-- Dillon Gracey
-- Jake Stitler
Hung out with a number of IUP & Rock folks for most of the time:
-- Tom Rogozinski (IUP)
-- Eric Shafer (IUP)
-- Bernie Sisk (ROCK)
As always...good runs, good beer, and good times!
Hoovis
I know who Eric Shafer is, but who exactly is Tom Rogozinski?
Just curious.
Thanks.
So we are getting into the summer, who are the top Frosh coming into the PSAC and are there any good transfers?
The top XC programs from a returnee standpoint must be Edinboro, Lock Haven, Slippery Rock, and ESU
The Womens side it looks like Ship should win again but who is going to follow them to nationals?
Rogo was perhaps the best IUP runner to never make All-American. In the back of my mind, that's probably not true...there are likely other more talented folks who just missed becoming an AA, but I'm willing to bet there were none tougher.
Rogo finished 10th in the PSAC XC Championships in 1989, which I believe was his highest finish at the conference meet. More important than his finish places at big meets, was Rogo's contribution to the team. He was a team leader -- not the fastest guy, but the one who set the tone and the "toughness" bar for some very good IUP teams back in teh late 80's/early 90's.
After college, Rogo is best known for finishing 3rd in the 1992 Transamerica Footfrace. On the 37th day of the race (where runners covered between 28-64 miles per day), Rogo found himself leading the overall race. On that particular day, he passed 25 miles in 3:21 and continued on, taking the 58.85 mile stage in 8:07:53. If you know anything about ultrarunning, then you'll realize that 8:07 for nearly 60 miles is blazing for any race...but, on your 37th day of running across the US, that's just F$&%ing crazy.
You can learn more about Rogo, and that race, here:
Lets get some discussion going, which teams have to most to prove this year.
Ship and Lock Haven took some big losses.
Boro Rock and ESU return almost everyone. These three are going to be dangerous especially now that the guys from the Rock have more experience, which they clearly lacked last season.
Also when do the preseason rankings come out?
Stephen Schelander is probally the best guy to not go AA in an individual event. Shippensburg went AA in the DMR indoors but in XC he was 41st (first one out of AA) and in Track after a 3:46 in the 1500 he was 9th (first one out) His 1500 meter time would rank him I believe 5 all-time in that event respectively.
Great career just extremly short of AA.
Edinboro's top gun is transferring D1. Is this true?
Anderson would never transfer with only one year left. The big question is Zondlo, guy runs incredibly fast, regional champ, 5k national qualifier and falls off the face of the earth. Any word if he's coming back, if so Haven would be in good shape in solidifying a spot to nationals with a 1 2 punch of Monroe and him
Has anyone heard about Paul Galtron? Rumor is he has been running 237 miles a week up in the mountains of Western Idaho. He frequently chases down animals and feasts on their raw flesh. Up to 10 lbs of meat a day. As well as 15 lbs of raw potato. Dude is ready.
What athletes does Haven have that have eligibility? The past few years the team has had quite a few redshirts so it's hard to keep track of it all. Any predictions for there top 5?
The PSAC is dead.
Does anyone else think Edinboro can win both the men's and women's side of things? The men look good on paper and they had a pretty good track season this spring as well. The women didn't look great during track but certainly on paper look like they should be good for XC.
3 teams get out of the region again this year. NCAA field expansion is in effect.
Men
1. Edinboro really good group of returners
2. LHU freshmen stud , returning studs Monroe and Zondlo with solid returners and transfers
3. Ship young but very talented team, can Gillette lead them?
4. SRU strong pack of Juniors. If they can all get up far enough they could be dangerous
5. ESU should they stay healthy eligible and motivated they could be good.
6. Cal they have some talent but might be more track oriented then xc oriented. unproven group.
Women
1. Ship stud transfer plus spratford, plus solid depth
2. Edinboro could win if they all stay healthy, looks good on paper
3. Bloomsburg strong returning group have talent and experience questionable depth
4. SRU always seem to have a strong group a big team to pull from
5. ESU has a very good 1-2 punch. solid 3rd. need 4/5
6. LHU lost too much to graduation to sustain NCAA type of team unless they get some fast frosh.
Enough about shitlander and which teams will finish where. Lets start talking about Tabitha Bemis

Gillette can run no doubt about it. but it was both him and shelander that made the difference. they have some other decent guys but, i wouldnt put them ahead of the good pack teams in SRU and ESU.
Don't forget about the Mansfield women...they may have lost Brenae Edwards but the returners are solid they have some incoming who can help and the Scordino twins both had pretty good outdoor campaigns that could carry over
Ok let's get serious no one really cares about the girls, it's all about the guys race
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
