Who wants to bet that the conference meet ends up being held at Lock Haven?
Who wants to bet that the conference meet ends up being held at Lock Haven?
And why would that happen?
because the Mansfield course is underwater right now.

if mansfield is under the susquehanna river wouldn't lock haven be also. they are both flat flood plain courses less than 60 miles away from each other on the same river.
i'm sure mansfield will be fine by the time psac happens.
Did we ever heard who the big Adams State transfer was or where he ended up? Or was that just a rumor?
Because A) the Mansfield AD could nearly give a good crap and B) the Mansfield course is surrounded by high ground all around the course which is right next to the river. It could even move to the Boro'.
Book it
Susquehanna River West Branch =/= Susquehanna River
Good evening,
Earlier today coaches across the PSAC received the following information from me:
Our course, which is in a flood plain, was used to retain water to prevent further down stream flooding. The Tioga river feeds into the Chemung which then feeds into the Susquehanna River basin.
At the north end of the Course (Learns Loop) the course was 40 feet underwater.
It was an interesting sight to say the least but not the first time this has happened.
The water levels have already been lowered by the Army Corp of Engineers and the waters have receded off the course.
Provided no additional flooding on the course it will be dry enough to rake debris and mow the final cuts in by late next week. We will then follow that up with the 13 ton roller to ensure good footing.
The Army Corp has said that they intend to have the roads cleared of silt in 3 weeks but that it may take longer but believe they can have everything clear for the conference meet.
We are working on a back up course at one of the local golf courses and we have already been in contact with the conference commissioner on the subject developing a back up plan. And yes, I have been in contact with Coach Russel.
We have every intention of hosting and will do everything in our power to provide a good experience as we did in the 2005 with track and field and in 09 with the Regional.
Your coaches will be kept up to date on the status of the course.
On a sadder note SRU lost Coach Labor this past week. For those who don't know, he was one of the best sprint/hurdle coaches in the country and a wonderful person.
Good luck to all of you this season. May you run healthy and strong all year.
Coach Mike
Any updates from this weekend? I know most of the teams were active... All I've heard so far is that SRU guys looked strong at Mack Cooper with great individual performances by IUPs Costello and SRUs Arrigoni. Both were under 26 on the tough Coopers Lake course.
Girls side showed that IUP may be a little better than some think, taking home the win.
Any other updates?
Edinboro looked the best. Top 5 running in the 26s at Van Cortlandt park. Lock Haven and Shippensburg didn't look that strong at Kutztown. Slippery Rock looked good. California looked good as well with Dinzeo running 25:01. Haven't seen Monroe or Zondlo race yet....could prove a problem for them in the long run.
Good chance Ship, and probably Lock Haven for that matter, were more or less training through Sat's meet. Ship is racing at Paul Short in a few weeks; I don't know if Lock Haven is or not.
The season has only just begun. Just have to wait and see!
What is this PSAC? This thread makes no sense to me
learn to use google ruppy. nice run friday.
Where's Scott Anderson, he hasn't run any races yet......
It seems alot of top psac runners are missing from the race scene this season. If it stays this way, the door might be open for some other teams to move up...
You have a point.. this is the year the Cheyney Wolves have been waiting for! They might win more than just the first 350 of PSACs this year!
HOWL WOLVES HOWL!!
it is september most teams have 1 or 2 races under their belt and i don't think anyone i considered a pre-season contendah has put their best team on the line.
having three bids on each side this year has altered strategy for some of the top teams. i think the lack of strong early season racing is the effect of lock haven's men, boro's men and women, and ship's women feeling reasonably comfortable about their chances to make nationals.
if all those teams look this unimpressive in october and november, i'll stop posting.
Any updates on Zondlo? I think I read somewhere that he was hurt this summer.
The PSAC will take a few years to get to where it was last year. I definitely believe this will be a down year for PSAC xc as a whole. In my head I can think of at least 10 from the top 20 at the conference meet last year are gone. Ship, Lock Haven, and Edinboro are clearly not as powerful as they were last year which is a shame, hopefully this trend carried out throughout the whole nation and will allow another top 8 finish for a PSAC school.
Love the overreactions to early in the season. Anybody who is worth anything come championship time either is training through right now or hasn't opened up yet.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
