Cross is definetly more interesting because of the team aspect. since track is more individual its not really as much fun to make predictions.
yeah boro is gonna be really strong this year...they have last years crew back + niemera/field coming back + recruit ben hahn who is pretty impressive.
at least this is what i've heard. Any insight into if i am correct or not.
Thats pretty cool about the jesvic race. any other psacers hittin up road races this year?
i know theres gonna be some at the brentwood 4th of july 5k, Iuri has a couple of us goin out to NJ for some big race in late july, and debbiegreen 5k in WV in early august.
Good luck to everyone in their summer training...gotta get back to my office space job...peace
when and where is the race in NJ?
hey bluman, let me know about these road races if you go to in late july and early august. i would love to make an appearance. you have my number so give me a call. peace out.
I'm actually not completely sure where the NJ race is...it's on july 14th. you can sign up teams so we're gonna do that with some spiffy new uniforms reagan made for this summer. i'm not sure when the deadline is to enter so i'd better get on that too. jorge, i actually don't have your number, so its a good thing you check this all the time....lol....send me an e-mail or somethin. the debbiegreen 5k is in wheeling, wv aug 4th at 7:00pm.
Have any of you guys seen the movie Run Like Hell? I am thinking about buying it but investing $25 bucks is a whole lot so I am just wondering if it is any good.
i didnt like it.., they showed a couple good workouts but i think it was just self promotion that anyone with a camera could have made
Yo guys the july 14th race is called the belmar five, check it out on the web. Its right on the beach and really flat. Hope the summer training is going well. I look forward to reading this thread all during cross.
run like hell was a good movie....honestly in this sport we can't be choosey, anything with any kind of running action is great. this movie show's the life or a pro runner and is funny at time. definitely worth it if you're into running.
i really liked RLH, plus my name was in the credits.
Roadwhore:Looks like the Rock guys are logging some miles as evidenced by their recent performance at Brentwood (July 4th):3 Patrick Reagan, 20 14:58 4:504 Jeff Weiss, 20 15:09 4:535 Matthew Bluman, 21 15:43 5:046 Chris Geddis, 22 15:48 5:06Do have some concerns that's way too fast for Reagan in early July...hope the guy can believe in himself enought to chill some over the summer so that he's at his best in November. Then again, I thought the dude would fade last year and he hung on tough. Had a rough race at PSAC's but came back well at Regionals. It will be VERY interesting and fun to watch the Rock this year and see if they can put together a "magical" season -- with DII Nats being run on their home course. Hoovis

So what individuals are running the most miles right now in the PSAC?...probably behind Weiss of course
Also, my fellow Punxsy boy and Rock Runner -- Adam Smelko ran 15:50 at the Brookville 5k recently. That's not blazing (although probably a PR for the guy), but that's 5 guys running sub 16 in early July...solid, very solid.

...actually nationals are in missouri this year...rock is next year.and Pat knows what he's doin...he's a really smart kid, he just happens to be able to run fast in the off season.
1 Kyle Botten, 19, Export, PA 15:58 5:09
i was lookin through results on runhigh and i found this for a 4th of july race.
Doesn't this kid run for sru? i heard his name at some race before but i didnt see him in any of this past years results.
I understand the whole "ran with Spence thing" is a little tough to quantify. I have had the pleasure of being beat up several times by the guy as I too attended Ship at one point. He's a great guy and an outstanding coach. I look forward to seeing the season develope.
Hoovis, the race smelko ran was a shorter one...like 2.8 or something. he still ran a good pr though.
kyle botten does run for sru, he was injured this past year, but he's doing well now.
Nesbitt, good race at the boilermaker this weekend, 45th is a good place in that race....i also saw wooten, sanford, mccabe, and cummings in there
Jeff McCabe, the man(or 12 year old boy as some drunk lady in the pub run thought he was) I see at every local road race I go, and who hangs out at the Lithuanian Club, with a solid run.
Good to see some other names in there too.
If anyone is looking to do some summer track meets on a Thursday night and happens to be in Northeast PA, check out College Misericordia. Get some decent competition up there, McCabe, Kyle Hardenbrook(ran for Ship), other local guys. This Thursday and August 2 are the remaining meets. Have heats of everything distance wise going, even 3k steeple(which I may do on my birthday)..As for this week though, its mile and 4 by 4(not in shape for distance races, haha)
Just throwing that out there..
Skwierz... I will be willing to make a fool of myself in the mile on Thursday. I'll still be suffering from an overdose of LSD. So I'll see you there, but I doubt anyone else.
Local hero Josh Arthur came through with the best PSAC performance at Utica which everyone failed to mention.
Damn, I'm getting all kinds of things screwed up.
I knew that Nats at the Rock were in 08, but I've been doing a bunch of FY08 budget planning at work lately and got mixed up. Grrr...anyway, the Rock season can still be a great one. I don't think they've had a team place top 10 at Nats (guys or girls)since the (1996?) ladies team in Spartansburg, SC.
Regarding the Smelko race, not sure that one's my fault. Apparently, those folks up there in Brookville obviously don't know how to advertise their race...here's how they promote it:
June 23, 2007 Laurel Run 5K / 1M Brookville, PA
Or, maybe it's just that former Boro alum Mike Tonkin was the one measuring/counting the miles :)

haha..it's all good hoovis....i'm bored at work every day so i need something to keep me occupied.
smelko did run a 16:58 at the groundhog 5k on the 4th though...i think he'll have a good season for himself.
can't believe i didnt see arthur in the boilermaker results...that was a good race. it nice seein so many psac guys in the same races.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
