Let's have an open discussion about the drinking problem at Edinboro.
In short: Edinboro has a serious drinking problem.
Maybe if these guys would focus on their running and not drinking the conference would have another regionals bid.
I hope all recruits think long and hard before they go to a program like that where there is constant out of control drinking.
If only kids knew what they were getting into before they went there, they wouldn't waste 4 years of running.
Yeah because I don't think any of their guys drank back in 1986, 1987, 1988, or 1990 when they won NCAAs. A few of them must have had a sip or two, or maybe stayed up past curfew a few times in 1981, 1984, 1985, 1989, and 1993 when they were 2nd at NCAA's. Those guys were monks. No way they could drink hard, train hard, and then race harder than anyone else.
Right, and recent history? Oh that's right open container violations and underage drinking. Watts is getting too old to keep his children together up there.
And no one is fighting back? someone up at the "boro" is asking the admins to take it down. clearly this is ruffling someones feathers.
I am going to say it's someone at ship that asked to have them taken down

You are ruffling feathers by being anal. Keep on being Mr. Sixty Minutes: You and Morely Safer can break the big story that Edinboro XC drinks sloppily and gets caught at rates higher than other XC teams. No friggin shit. Next.
This is Dan Rather.

You know what? When I read idiotic posts about people posting links to other people's police records and whatnot, I seem to find myself assuming that the people who find these things are total losers.
I can almost guarantee that anyone who is actually in contention for something big this year is spending there time doing much more productive activities besides internet douching.
I forgot to mention: I am not from Edinboro. I'm just curious why people can't put anything productive on here.
The ratio for good information to bad has to be 1:50 or higher.
I liked it better when people made predictions, talked about courses, and shared stories.
Quit this garbage that's going on.
I personally found the links to people's criminal records quite funny. But I like predictions and what not too.
This just in.... 90% of the posts on the letsrun PSAC thread is from the small town of Shippensburg!
epic thread - I read it all!
Why are teams like Edinboro, Lock Haven, and Ship consistently very good while most of the psac is not? It is definelty not the size of the schools because Edinboro and Lock haven are amongst the smallest. Is it coaching, recruiting, training, social environment? It would be interesting for someone from each of the various psac schools to post their xc training. Maybe a typical week during the summer, typical week during the season with a race, and a typical week during the season without a race. Also, it would be great to get a sense of the social enviroment at the schools. For instance, is being on the xc/track team at your school just viewed as a social outlet (people to party with)? I think this thread could be used to really help the psac become stronger and maybe eventually one of the best conferences in D2. However, instead it is often used as a forum to bash others. I am not from Edinboro but they do something right there that consistently makes them one of the best in the conference. Lets learn from others success and not focus on tearing one another down.
i love how people come on here and try to tear down the program at Edinboro. If you took two minutes to look at the history of XC in the PSAC instead of searching for police records you would see how the Boro has dominated XC. I know we had fun while I was there but I can also tell you NO ONE in the conference ever trained like we did. Good luck all at Paul Short- looking forward to returning to the Boro for conference.

This has been brought up time and time again. I think it has been determined that it's not just one factor, or two, or three. It's a combination of history, both past and recent. There is also the factor of location of the school; to the local leagues and districts nearby and their talents. A minor part is the scholarship money available at schools.
I haven't begun to touch on everything, but please just don't let this turn into a coach bashing thing. Yeah, some coaches may be better than others. I'm just saying it's not ALWAYS a fault of the coach if a runner isn't All Conference/Region.
So, yeah, it's a bunch of factors. I've been hearing rumors that part of the PSAC may be disassembling, as in, a few years down the road, there may not be a Cheyney xc or Mansfield or some other smaller PSAC schools. This is just a rumor, though. Anyone else heard something like that?
I'd rather hear more on this rumor (for the time being, anyhow).
Recent PSAC XC guys open running shoe store in Indiana, PA.
Jorge, Geddis, Gaudet, Bluman
Man, if I lived closer to Indiana, I'd probably be hanging out there almost all day accomplishing nothing but sharing ridiculous PSAC stories.
Congrats on the store, guys! Sounds like a ton of fun!
