If runners are not white and from PA then they are foreign. How many blacks are in the conference running XC?

Does someone have a Klan membership? Hitler believed in the very same thing when it came to Nazi Germany!

WTF. You are disappointed that you team would \"sell out.\" Then let us just do what we have been doing for year because that has worked so well. When was our last individual champion or team championship? NEVER! A school is suppose to get the best athletes available. Getting guys who run 10 min is not the best. Obviously IUP does not have the money to get the really good ones. My $50 only goes so far.
\"Sell out\". Distance runners were weird when I was there and I guess it has not changed. If I was your coach I would cut your ass. Be proud of your school and program or quit. We need the help wherever they are from.
Former IUP trackster huh? You must have been really popular when you were here because it doesn\'t seem like you\'re pompous at all or anything..
And obviously, if you were on the team, you never got to know any of the distance runners. All of the former runners that I\'ve met and all of the current runners there are some of the nicest people I\'ve ever met. Yeah, we may be as you say \"weird\", but you have to be a little crazy to run 100 miles a week, now don\'t you?
As a distance runner, I can understand both ends of this spectrum. While I should be happy to have the \"better\" runners coming in, it\'s a little bit of a let down to see foreigners coming in to take over our team and possibly the conference. They will make our team better, and that\'s awesome, and they will definitely increase the competitiveness withing the conference. But it would be much more rewarding to build a team off of young area talent like the rest of the PSAC teams, which we were beginning to build a little bit of a base of.
I guess a lot of these issues stem from the sense of pride most distance runners carry. I know that now, there is also a sense of renewed nationalism being showed for United States track and field, which is best displayed by the best runners in the US. I read an article a few weeks on here that pretty much summed it up for me about Anthony Famiglietti at the Pre Classic. He took out the 5k and ended up fading and not reaching his goal. However, he was stoked about the race because he helped a few people set new PRs and he also helped Evan Jager set a new junior 5k record. He talked about how he hopes more people can learn this mindset, that even if you try and fail, at least your presense helped your fellow runners do better. It was a great read.
What I\'m trying to say is; I\'m happy that my team is going to be better, but if victory is to come, it won\'t be as sweet as if it were built off of hard work and not out of country recruiting.
But it would be much more rewarding to build a team off of young area talent like the rest of the PSAC teams, which we were beginning to build a little bit of a base of.
I must be missing something. The President at IUP wants international students and gives them in-state tuition; IUP's XC program is shitty and has been one of the worst in the conference for years; IUP has little scholarship money and the present coach knows someone who will pay for athletes from Kenyan; the conference is all-white; and PSAC needs upgraded as on the national level is very weak. Where is the down side of having non-PA athletes? Do you honestly think Edinboro or Ship or SRU, or Lock Haven etc. would not take Kenyans if they wanted to come? Don't you have a good 400 runner from Jamaica now? Should he not compete because he is not from PA? Your National Champion long jumper comes from down South so I guess he should not compete either. Edinboro has a good girl from China? SRU has international guys and I would bet other teams has foreign athletes.
I am all for being patriotic but if you can get someone who runs significantly faster from another state or country, why not do it?
To say the team is building a base is ludicrous. To my knowledge we have not had a XC all-american in many years. I am pretty sure there isn't anyone returning that can be in the top 5 at PSAC. The building theory holds no weight.
Hopefully IUP will get 5 more from Kenya and 10 runners from Ethiopia and you will not make the squad. Maybe that is what you are afraid of. It is a shame that people who are mediocre are the ones who complain on this site. The Clarks' and Weiss' would welcome the competition.
I am pretty sure you run the 800/1500. My question to you is if Kenyans could help YOU make all-american in the DMR would you not go? Get real and stop the bullshit. Anyone who can upgrade a team and/or confernce should be welcome.
That is my last comment until track season starts. I pray IUP gets some big-time European throwers to make all of us throwers proud.

We would def love to have a 9:26 walk on...... I havent heard anything about the guy yet though, Is he planning on coming this year?
Ship Recruits this year:
Matt Gillette 9:19 2-mile, 4:20 mile, 15:40 5k, 19th at States
Kevin Borillo 9:23 2-mile, 15:42 5k
Kyle Hurston 9:26 2-mile, 4:16 mile, 15:48 5k, 18th at States
John Reilly 9:38 2-mile, 15:58 5k, 23rd at States
SORRY HE CHANGED HIS MIND AS HE WAS NOT FROM PENNSYLVANIA AND DID NOT FEEL WANTED. YOU HAVE TO HOME GROW YOUR TALENT.
former IUP, are you mark bridge?
I never complained about it happening, I said I am all for our team being better, and I'm pretty sure I mentioned that I'm training the same now as I was before the Kenyans were added, so I'm not really worried.
All I was saying is, I can understand the frustrations. But I'm done with this, too. Let them come, hopefully they throw down and we have a great season, I guess we'll just have to see.
So let's hear some predictions: Edinboro returns pretty much everyone and got a few studs for recruits, Lock Haven returns all from their regional champion team last year, Ship is returning pretty much everyone and got in a nice recruiting class. Should be a nice battle between those 3.
After that, what is there? SRU will be suffering from the loss of Weiss and Reagan, ESU is a year older and could possibly throw down, Mansfield is another pretty young team and got in a top notch recruit, IUP lost three of their top 5, including 2 all-region runners but is pulling some African recruits, Millersville seems like they could throw something together, and Bloom could be a wild card with their new coaching staff. Anybody have any input?
u need more then distance who cares what IUP gets or wher they r from..if ur good ul beat who ever.. it aint just PA ppl at nationals so deal wit.. u need sprints, jumps, and throw also to win a title..
any 1 got any good sprinters commin in...?
Excuse me Mr. ESU, do they teach English at your university? From what you have said so far, I'm really starting to think they don't. Go back to middle school and learn some spelling and grammar, you're making yourself look stupid.
Who cares about Sprinters? They're usually black. No one cares. This is PA.
Was I unclear in my previous post? Mr. ESU, we're talking about cross country.. and the only team in cross with sprinters on it is Cheyney, and we've all seen how good they do. Come back in about 4 or 5 months and talk your mouth off about track, but now it's about the furthest thing from most of our minds.
no1 likes xc no one watchs it no one goes to the race sno one cares indoor esu MVP out ESU MVP .. both sprinters.. coachs dont care about xc they just want indoor to start .. no one gives a f*** bout that shit ..
all of you care way too much about a conference that sucks..
discuss amongst yourselves
and if ur so good what place did u get at nationals .. i think the psac had more all-american then urs and more teams rankd then urs bitch ass
apparently they are more proficient with the English language than you, on top of being better runners..
and i bet ur a real winner wit the girls along wit ur good english f*** ass nerd
Your right this is PA .. and I'm white and i won the 100 and 200 .. and 4x100 .. color has nothing to do with it bro..
Seriously, the ESU sprinters need to stay off this forum until they learn some grammar and spelling, your grammar is atrocious and it makes you look retarded.
Secondly, before you insult a team that has won multiple cross country national championships, has had more All-Americans on both their cross country and track teams than you can probably count, 17 individual national champions in outdoor track, and arguably one of the top programs in Division II, please do some research and not make yourself look so ignorant. Before you embarrass yourself anymore than you already have, LEAVE!
