by the way, how is Seattle treating you?
by the way, how is Seattle treating you?
If I was staying somewhere in town, I'd be up for some brews in Bloom, but I'll probably just drive up that morning and watch since its a half hour from me
Blood has run, he won the PSU nat. invite. To the other poster, Cummings graduated.
cummings didnt graduate.
Could you do rankings for the letsrun women?
Yes, I can certainly try and do this....time is limited though. I will, however, try and revise my mens rankings before psacs and do women's rankings (at least teams for each, but perhaps individuals as well).
Hoovis
Cummings did not graduate he is running unattached now and is redshirting for he can run xc next fall and is preparing for indoor track. As well as for the Morsemans I think, I saw them at Both the Penn State races and also were running unattached.
PSAC whats it stand for?
Yeah, Jorge and I ran with Cummings the other day and he explained why everyone was redshirting up there on the Mt. Kinda sounds like Mansfield and SRU have the same hopes for next year, should be interesting.
In my opinion, Using a redshirt is only if your team has A LOT of depth or if your injured... it is very risky to do something like that when guys that are redshirting are running better than they ever have before (mainly talking about Rock). What if those guys happened to get injured next year or something.. this could of... i should say most likely WOULD OF been the year to make a national showing... with one guy injured... its not happening
I agree about the redshirting business. You never know what could happen in one year. If you're running fine now, I think its best to take that opportunity and run while you can. Just a casual observation, but I've seen ppl red shirt in hopes of having a killer year, but one year later they are injured or slower or whatever, and regretted not running when they had the chance.
There are many reasons to redshirt other than athletic ones. In some case it may be becuase of academics or other more personal reasons.
Rowe redshirted healthy and it came back to haunt him.
What the rock guys are doing is very questionable. However, after talking with them here's the feeling I got. They are fairly confident that they could make a run at Nationals this year but would not have a chance in hell at cracking the top 15. If the top 4 were Weiss, Geddis, Bluman and Grey, who would be their #5 man. The answer is Mark Morelli [who just ran 27:50 at the SRU invite] How many of you really want to be on a team that goes to Nationals with a #5 man who is barely sneaking under 28 minutes.
that why I partially agree with them.
They're crossing their fingers that everyone in the top 4 will stay healthy and improve some. Most importantly, they need one guy out of the 6 or 7 talented runners on the team to step up big. I get the feeling that there is more talent NOT running at the Rock than a lot of PSAC schools on their entire team. Namely Dinger, K. Dustin, Botten, Ulrich, Buzelli, etc. I don't know a single on of these guys but 3 of them are great H.S. recruits, Dinger ran #2 for the Rock at IUP when they hosted Regionals and Dustin was running 27 flats all last season.
They're waiting on a 5 man because you can't beat the big RMAC schools with only 4 solid runners.
This year they feel like they could make it; next year they feel that they will be able to make it and compete.
I dont know if I would say that it came back to haunt Rowe. He ran great all season his senior year. I believe he was even named runner of the year and was expected to do very well at nats. He just blew up and sucked balls at nats. I dont think redshirting had anything to do with that one race.
8 days til showtime
Of course everyone remembers Aaron Rowe, he was the man!!!

Beggars can't be choosers! I don't understand the logic of waiting to qualify for nationals until you can really impact nationals. We are talking about an institution that hasn't qualified for the meet in well over a decade. Furthermore, I don't think the other teams in the region (psac) are going to just let SRU place in the top two next year. By that I mean, I think there will only be two available trips to nationals next year, which will make it difficult for any of the top teams to qualify. If you didn't get the feeling of my post already, I don't agree with SRU compromising a good chance of qualifying this year for what they call "a chance to really compete" at nationals next year. Running is unpredictable sometimes and one injury/illness will make these guys wish that they would have ran the previous year. Especially given that Bluman and Geddis seem to currently be running. Good luck Slippery Rock, Good luck Bluman and Geddis. Train hard, train smart, and take care of yourselves.
I agree with most of your ranking but you are wrong when comes to the middle of the field.
1. Ship - They have no real star on the team such as Blood or clark but the run so good as a pack team.
2. Lock Haven
3. ESU
4. Clarion - This bunch of walkons has been turned into a bunch of runners. Clark will contend for the PSAC and Regional Championship
5. Edinboro - They don't have as good as talent as past years but they still have runners. You can never count out Doug Watts.
6. Slippy Rock - All they really have is wiess. Redshirting really hurt this team.
7. IUP - Not as good as past years. Medina will contend for the championship.
8. Bloomsburg
9. West Chester
10. Millersville
11. Cal
12. Mansfield
13. Cheyney
Top 3 teams: I agree with, I don;t know what order, it's gonna be one hell of a showdown I think.
Boro: who knows what the Watts guys are doin, I haven't seen them all year.
Clarion, Bloom, IUP: a second less thrilling showdown, but fun to watch none the less.
SRU: Weiss will have sex with everyone's moms, and the rest will trot along for fun.
WCU/Millersville/Mansfield/K-Town I have no idea...
Cal: how bad can we be and still call ourselves runners?
Cheney: I heard their head coach is Cheech assisted by Chong.
Females
IUP: Led by the Blaessinator
Boro/ Bloom/ K-town: all are in it.
SRU/Clarion, maybe mixin it up with the op group.
All of the rest are still putting on their makeup wondering if their butts look big.
back to drinking...
