The Image Tag: A beginners guide. Page One of Five
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to use graphics and photographs in your web pages you will need to use the HTML image tag
. This guide will help you do just that.
The first thing you need to do with your graphics and images is to place them in the same directory as your HTML files on your hard drive. When you have finished editing the pages on your computer, you will then upload the files to the remote server.
The
Tag.
Is used to tell an Internet browser that an image needs to be loaded onto the page. Remember that this tag, unlike many other HTML tags does not need a closing tag.
Here is an example:
(you will use the name of your image file in place of myimage.gif and remember not to use spaces in between words when naming your files).
What does SRC mean?
This attribute means "Source", in this case the "Image Source". It names the image file you want to place on the tag.
Use this snippet of code:
where URL is the Web address of the file (including the http:// part) and X is the desired display size in pixels.
Whoops. Forgot my code snippet would be processed as HTML!
I meant:
(img src="URL" height=X)
Use < and > rather than parentheses, though. You can also specify width as an attribute. If you specify both width and height be sure the proportions are the same as in the original, if not the values (unless you want the pic to come out looking warped).
i am going to try to write this so that the text you need comes up and not just a picture...
you want to put the following in between arrows <....>
img src="www.webpage.com/pic.jpg"
where
is the web address of where your picture is
hope this makes sense and helps you out
