Ran for one mile two days after mine was out. Was training seriously one week later. No worries.
I had mine removed at about 7:00 AM on a Monday, went home about 1:00 PM.
Tuesday afternoon I did about 15 minutes walking on the treadmill (nice controlled conditions).
Wednesday, walked about two miles, sidewalks and gentle ups and downs.
Thursday, walk, shuffle, jog on sidewalks around the neighborhood--about two miles, easy pace.
Friday, easy 3 miles on the trails.
Saturday, easy 8 miles on the trails...
back to normal.
I am probably a lot older than you (61), was in decent shape (training for a 50k trail run six weeks later) at the time of the surgery.
Mine was a 'scope job, three small incisions, almost pain free--pretty simple thing.

Nope. Nothin'. Nada. Zilcho. The first couple of outings, walking and then running (I run trails mostly) were cautious and then back to normal. I was 59 when it happened.
I do some mild weights and stretches 3 days a week--includes abdomen stuff--never had a problem at all.
Start believing in yourself. Maybe start a gentle abdomen strengthening program. There's a piece of you missing, it's normal to have an emotional scar to go with the physical one...not to worry, the body rebuilds.
I had mine out in college. It probably ruptured on a Friday and I had emergency surgery the following Monday. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital on IVs and lost 25lbs. It took me about 3 months to get back to normal running. Everybody's situation is different.
One of the major recovery time factors hinges on the size of the incision. Modern appendectomies are done laparoscopically with tiny incisions. Recovery is faster because there is not this huge cut through the muscles of your abdomen. Another major factor is the bullheadedness of the patient. Most runners fit this category thus they are out there faster than non runners. Merely my observation not medical fact.

Much like tough guy, mine was not as easy a comeback, maybe tried too much too soon. Was unfortunate since I was in great shape prior to and it hit just before XC season. Took me several months to really recover and my body just reacted strangely especially after just getting treated for Lymes.
Just take it easy, considering you have ample time now.
