my post was in agreement with fredo's - reinforcing his point (along with rastrepus's) on the type who hijack topics, as with what happened to this one above. the quote fits.

Gee, maybe that's why she asked the question.

In response to your eloquent question and statement, and piggybacking on idealist's response, part of my reason for asking the question about the number of women was to try and get an idea of whether or not there are other women out there who are posting, but don't make their gender known. Not that each post has to begin with an affirmation of one's gender, I would just like to know if there are women who post, but don't feel comfortable revealing their chromosomal make-up for various and sundry reasons. However, chances are, if there are women who are "posting as men", then they will probably want to maintain that anonymity and won't respond to this thread anyway. From the responses gathered above, though, I am beginning to think there are very few women who post, period. And I can't say that I blame them, but I do wish that more would contribute to this board.

Hm... You already get your answer. So your conclusion quote of "I am beginning to think there are very few women who post" is simply not strong.
Im 100% male anyway. There you go, you got my response.

It really wouldn't stress your mental abilities that severely to insert the obviously implied "as women" at the end of calbear's
"I am beginning to think there are very few women who post" statement.
In case it does tax you unduly, the point of the original post was to determine if there were any women who might willingly confess to reading and or posting on this site.
I'm not sure what your problem is with her question, anyway.
And she didn't ask "What is the sex of each poster?" so your answer was unnecessary.
CALBEAR'S QUOTE
"However, chances are, if there are women who are "posting as men", then they will probably want to maintain that anonymity and won't respond to this thread anyway"
so my answer was necessary.
I'm a female and past Calbear too! Haven't chosen one single alias yet... so does that mean I'm "posting as a man"?! It takes a Cal girl to admit they are snooping on this board. I find it educational and quite entertaining. It's possible that not as many females are aware of this site- but I think more should pipe up.
Not only am I a woman, but according to most on this board I am "old" (almost 41). Have been the target of a fair share of derision (oh well) but also have had some much appreciated informative and mature responses from more open minded posters.
Hey Runnerbabe. As a man of 36, let me say that pretty much almost 41 isn't old at all! Also, let me say that at this stage of my life, I find women in their mid 30s to early 40s very HOT and anyone younger is well, just younger. My wife (35) has no threat that I won't always find her attractive. I seem to like the ones in my own age group.
Thanks, Knower! You'll note that I put "old" in quotes- that is only the label I have been given on this board, not how I limit myself. Anyway, I find your posts on other subjects to be interesting- keep it up!
I'm female and usually post at fast-women. I've come to this site a few times, but this is why I don't post: I do not care if Dathan R. (can't even try to spell his name) got hurt from overworking or not. I also don't really care about stupid "My state is better than yours" jokes either. I'm slowly leaving fast-women, though, because now it's all talking about professional runners and certain people on there boosting their egos in every post.
i think there are some major differences in guys and girls. I can't understand why my husband likes to look at football message boards and he can't understand why I read eonline....so go figure.
You are refering to "LaFemme." Dearly departed from these boards. We miss you girl.
Yeah, those were the days. Femme, if you're reading, lose that job with CM, and start posting on the boards fulltime again.
Runnerbabe,
You're damn right you find my posts interesting - because I am interesting.
Marython,
Here is my advice to you, and it is the same advice I give to people who complain about there being topics that don't interest them - START A TOPIC THAT INTERESTS YOU! It really is that simple. Most of the time people will respond and stay on topic. If you don't want to hear about Dathan Ritzenhein (it's really not that hard to spell) then don't read those threads. If someone starts a thread about Suzy Hamilton, it is sure to degrade to talking about her in a sexual way even if the original poster was just impressed with her running, but for the most part, if you start a serious topic, most of the posters will stay serious.
It is all about taking the initiative and becoming a leader rather than a follower. If something isn't the way you want it to be and you do nothing to change it, then only you are to blame.

I don't think that's a fair statement

That told that silly person from 17 years ago.
What's with all the ancient threads being dug up anyway? Seems to be loads these days.

If you weren’t old then, you are now (closing in on 58). Of course, I myself am 59, so I am older.
There used to be a women's training thread, people posted weekly. There seem to be less women around now if anything.
