Ever heard of it? YAVAPAI. (It rhymes with "have-a-pie")
If you haven't, you should.
It's one of the best women's cross country programs in the NJCAA Division I.
Nobody knows about it, though. There's next to nothing on the web. But talk to the head coach, Cylinda Bray, and her alumni, and any athlete will realize this program is about as good as it gets.
The team is very much a team. The coaching is superb. And the school is located in the most ideal place to run - Prescott, Ariz. What could be better than training at 5300 feet in a city surrounded by beutiful national forests. Ninety percent + of training is done on trails.
Plus, almost every athlete that runs at Yavapai moves on to NCAA DI schools (Northern Ariz., UNLV, Birmingham-Southern, Oklahoma, etc.)
If anyone is looking for an excellent college to start out at, Yavapai is it. (1-800-922-6787, ext. 2240)
Anyone beg to differ?
