i think geneseo just ran themselves right out of nationals. Do you think NJ will get a 4th for the Atlantic? I'm pretty sure RIT is a lock.

actually, im pretty sure geneseo finishing in 5th will help the region. they are currently ranked 6th in the d3 national poll, in large part due to their great run last week at states (which will be taken into consideration for a nat'l bid) and finishing close to cortland at sunyacs (also in the last 1/4 of the season) the point gap between rit, tcnj, and geneseo was also small enough and geneseo had a huge gap over rochester in 6th that it shows that they are one of the elite teams. the only thing that might hurt them is the fact that they had such a large spread 1-5, which is unusual for them ,especially considering what they were able to do last week and for most of the season. looks like it was a crazy race with most of the top teams getting spread apart more so than usual. was deshane way out fron tthe whole time, or did guys try to go with him and then fall off hard?
Dan Ver will provide up to date and thorough FAT results when they are avaiable.

Agree--I think a 5th place by Gen may bring the Region its fifth qualifying team...
If they're lucky enough to get 5 teams the 7 individuals would be:
Deshane
Sanders
Donohoe
Stevens
Kolb
Geisinger
Caster
Great race today everyone, it was a tough race today. I'm willing to bet Geneseo is still going to get selected as a at large- they've been ranked up top pretty much all season, so i don't see how they wouldn't get in because of one bad race. Granted its the worst race to run bad at, but still... they're a good team, they should go.
Atlantic will definitly get 5 teams. Another Nate Lockett late-season choke job.
Good job Ithaca! Another trip to NCAAs (more than likely) for the women, and a solid 7th place performance for the men. Definitely a lot better than most people were expecting. And there's an outside chance Morty Caster might be heading out to Ohio next weekend. Awesome!
Ithaca looked gorges today.
Think the ladies can get five teams in?

Well I can sleep easy tonight, now that Nate Slowe has chimed in with his two cents. Thank God for Nate Slowe and his opinions, because this thread would be about 400 posts shorter without them. Great job today, Nate Slowe. Watch out for them elbows at Nationals, cause you'll be waaaaayyyyy back in the pack.

Awwwww.....looks like someone had a bad race today. Feel better now?
Well I'm glad you can sleep well now, wouldn't want you to lose sleep over something so trivial as not hearing what I have to say. I'm flattered.
And thanks for the congratulations, It's always nice to hear from my competitors. I'm sure you ran a great race too, good work. See you next weekend? Maybe?
I'm not so sure Geneseo will get an at large bid. It's true that we have a strong region, but they haven't been running so great in the last quarter of the season and that's all that the committee looks at (no polls either). I'd love to see them make it and get back into form next week, showing how strong our region is though. Tommorrow at 3!
Also, if the committee could look earlier into the season I'd say that Geneseo would be a lock, taking first at Pre Nats looks pretty good.
The whole race seemed pretty slow for regionals. Letchworth is not a slow course. Matt Deshane will probably be the only all american and the rest of the teams, we'll see if they can get into the top 4.
Atlantic has the best region out there. I will eat my own feces if five teams do not qualify. Are you kidding me? SUNY Geneseo will not be left home on the men's side. No way, will not happen. As for the comment about DeShane being the only AA. Hahahahahahahaha. Enough said.

I honestly think the girls have a better chance of sending 5.

I don't know who you are, but you are hilarious.
Recap: Normal XC start with 1000 guys all in a group. DeShane and Williamson out in front by a good gap (50m?) at around 2k. All the big names are up in the top 30, with the ususal top team's packs. At about 3.5M, DeShane's lead is monstrous. Much bigger than any Regionals lead I've ever seen, including Turner's 2003-2004 massacres. Jesse fell off hard, all the way back to the chase pack. Real impressive race by him, he hung tough and finished strong in second. After DeShane dismissed the competition, he cruised in to about a 25:10 or so. Won by 200m, give or take, to Williamson in about 25:45 I'd guess. After that, it was really tough to tell apart SUNY G, NYU, and TCNJ. They were all wearing white singlets, with dark shorts and a dark design on the front. However, it was easy to see that RIT was having a very good day, with Nate Lowe up around 10th or so, and everyone else farther up than usual. Cortland seemed to be struggling throughout, but stayed up there, led by Andy Cloke (around 6th). Shamus had some kind of lung problem, and was never really a factor up front. Stevens, surprisingly, was also never a real factor like he was last year.
Overall, NYU and Cortland had good finishes because of their tighter packs up front. RIT guys all ran very strong, and had a better pack than usual. TCNJ had an average day, and SUNY G did not have the tight 1-5 like normal. I believe I saw Gauthier pull up and slow down with some kind of leg injury, like a strained hamstring perhaps.
Men's Team:
1. NYU 67
2. Cortland 73
3. RIT 102 (Williamson 2nd)

3. Ithaca 103
4. Plattsburgh 201
5. Fredonia 205
6. RIT 214

Women's Ind.:
http://www.brockport.edu/~athletics/Atlantic_CC/results/2006/AtlanticRegion_Women_11.11.06.htmToni was trailing behind Liz for about the first 1.5M, when she made a move and gapped Liz by about 10sec. At the far turn around, the lead gator pulled up onto the road before the turnaround, and Toni followed it. Everyone yelled at her to go back to the course, so she backtracked to the first post that had that red ribbon stuff on it. As she came back on course, Liz was just passing her. Liz put a gap on her that Toni could not make up. It was an exciting race, many words were exchanged afterwards, and it was just a very unfortunate chain of events. Luckily Toni has nationals and one more year of XC to go, and this was not the final race of her career or anything like that.
also, if i recall, wasn't the course open for inspection yesterday and before the race. and wasn't plattsburg at the geneseo invite? she should know the course by now.
Well Tommorrow should be interesting. I would have thought the atlantic would get 5 on the mens side, but some interesting things happened around the country which could put a dent in these plans.
Two meets, were very close the WEST and the South, and YES i know the south sucks, but the first 3 were all within like 15 point or less, and gapped 4th by alot. There is a good chance the south will get 3. The West also ahad a vey tight meet, they might now get 4 teams, where most people figured 3.
Calvin destroyed its region, so they will most likely only get 2, but may draw 3. Neb Wesleyan was 5th in their region, in what was a real tight finish, they might now get 5? I think this region should get 5 based on strength, NYU and Cortland have raced alot of teams around the country this season and beaten pretty much all D3 takers, except NYU losing to Calvin by 31.
Course ran very slow today, it was pretty soft in alot of places. Deshane looked great, he will be right in it next week with Leer, Finnegan, Sigl, Kaul, and Yout.
NYU didnt run one of their top 2, Phillips, who rumor had it was sick and throwing up, possibly from Food Poisoning, so they lost most likely 20+ points having to go to a 5th man at 31st. I heard a few of their other guys were affected as well? Abdallah and Williams seemed off a bit. NYU's other guy came from nowhere, to move to second with 600 or so to go, and CNJ first man looked good, being up front the whole race.
I would think ths region if teams run well could put 3 teams in the top 10 next week, and have 4-8 AA guys.
good luck to all who get in.
