With all the different training methods out there interested to know if anyone has ever tried doing 2 training runs per day 3X/wk vs 1 training session 6 days per week and seen similar results?

Jeff Galloway wrote an article about doing this in Runner's World ages and ages ago. I doubt it's findable anymore, I think it might have come out before the Internet or at least before most people were connected. Unsurprisingly he thought it was a good idea, he gave examples of people for whom it worked better than running everyday. But that's about all I an give you.
The real question is: what would a person do the other 4 days a week of they didn't have to run?
