Why does letsrun attract a number of people who don't run at all?

Hmmm... Not sure. So many pathetic story lines mixed in with a few really good ones.

I’ve seen a bunch of people post, and I couldn’t tell you the number of miles per week for 90% of those people. I mean, I can guess that a bunch of them are not above 100 or even above 70, but “do not run at all”?

Not too many

There was a guy we all know who used to to spam here. He claimed that there were a ton of people who didn't run on the site. I never believed it. The actual number is probably vanishingly small.

But full disclosure: I was a habitué of LRC even during the 20 years that I was neither a runner nor a coach.

Following the lead of the owners. After the World XC Champs in Tallahassee, the owners didn't run in any of the community races that were offered on the XC course. Instead, they organized a bar party while the community races were happening! I kid you not.

I was under the impression that anybody who ran in highschool, or really at any age, and took the sport seriously, is a runner for the rest of their life.

I no longer run, haven’t run for like 4 years, but still consider myself a runner.

Do I not deserve that title?

I happen to have had a career ending injury, but at some point regardless I would have stopped running, and in that case I still would have called myself a runner my whole life.

A few of the users sound like they don't actually run. They could have an agenda because of the topics discussed here, or just because there's mostly free speech that isn't controlled by an algorithm. But to be fair, most of my comments are not directly about running.
