Generally speaking, at smaller colleges, a lot of coaches are also required to teach and sometimes even a full load of classes or else have some sort of other position so that they can actually make a living wage.

The State of Washington publicly discloses most state employee salaries. I doubt they include any bonuses or benefits, but they list their base salary anyway. Here are some of them from a year or two ago.

That could be, but those are the figures I have heard from one of their runners.
South Carolina does the same-
University of South Carolina
Curtis Frye: $144,375

Dee Quarles: $70,000
Michael Sergent: $56,450
Other notables from U of SC:
Eric Hyman, Athletic Director: $275,000
Steve Spurrier, Head Football Coach: $250,000
Here are the coaches salaries from South Carolina state universities that make over $50,000 a year. Any state employee who makes over $50,000 is publicly listed on the internet. These do not include private schools and are only Div I.
Frye USC Head $144,375
Quarles USC Asst. $70,000
McAuley USC Asst. $62,400
Sergent USC Asst. $56,450
Pollock Clemson Men Head $85,696
Noad Clemson Womens $64,272
Foster Clemson M Asst. $56,897

How did you find these? I am curious about other states. I'm sure its just a search, but what exactly did you search for?
sumthin aint right, spurrier make a helluva lot more than 250k.
Some college football coaches make over a mill, I think spurrier is up there too.
Robert Johnson - $50/mo.
Any other states?
I find this topic amusing as well. Unless you are able to coach at one of the major conference schools, your salary will not put food on the table. I only make 5-6k as an assistant at a D2 school, but I love what I do. You have to with the amount of work that goes into it. I'm just happy that my small salary is enough to pay for the rest of my pre med classes. It is not enough money to be independent though, as I still live at home. If you want to make a career out of coaching, I would suggest that you do some serious networking with some of those major conference schools. Even then, you might have to start out as a volunteer coach and pay your dues for a time before you get some real five-figure dough (don't even think about ever making six-figures).
Huddleston Citadel Head $60,781
Connie Coastal Women $55,500
Tche SC State Head $57,200
These are not major conference schools and from the looks of the salaries of these coaches, they can put food on the table. They may not be driving around in the new E-series, but certainly earn a good living.
this is a great topic I looked around google and could not find salaries, you guys must be better than me.
How about the SEC coaches, Big Ten Coaches, PAC 10 Big East . Can some one post those salaries?
I guess it depends on the strength of the football program. A good football program equals higher salaries for all coaches. As far as the salaries that you found, they were a good bit higher than I thought. That shows what I know:) That is encouraging to people who want to dedicate their lives to coaching.
been looking hard for Florida salaries, haven't found them...
Don't be surprised if some of these aremembers of the PE dept. You can teach and coach in high school and easily make more money than these 3.

Nobody said you couldn't. They are still making a decent living. Personally, I'd take being a DI coach who teaches a couple of 1 credit bowling classes over being a full-time high school teacher and high school coach. Of course, this is assuming that these three have to teach, which none of us know. However, if they do teach a couple "PE" classes, I will bet they don't spend as much time on them as a high school teacher does.
Huddleston and Connie do not teach, just coach. Well, Huddleston has an office and a title of coach, but his assistants do the hands on work like recruiting, most of the coaching and such. His assistants are either part-time coaches with full-time jobs or GA's.
