That Dirty Sanchez!
(Just wanted to be the first to add that to the thread!)
he ran 13:38 as a freshman at G-town
He had ran some solid races up in new england area a few years ago, and then was said to be joining the NOP last year or the fall of 04 or something, but he's never ran under them so i don't know what happeend after that point
I heard he was in the ATL for a while
He was running for the Atlanta Track Club for a little while last year. Ran and won a few local races for money, nothing huge.
i've never heard of him
That time his freshman year at Georgetown was the US Junior Record, correct?
You are correct, "was the US Junior Record". The USATF bio of the current US Junior Record holder incorrectly states he broke Lindgren's record.

I believe Pre held the record before Sanchez and Rupp. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though...
Top Three US Junior 5,000 meter times
Galen Rupp 13:37.9 17/4/31, Heusden-Zoeller
Franklin Sanchez 13:38.59 3/1/31, Stanford3. Steve Prefontaine 13:39.6 7/16/70, Stuttgart
He seems to be a really nice guy.
I think however, he was about 20 years old in high school when he ran 8:50 indoors with Powell. Powell was also about 20 years old too... not fair for us 17 year old seniors.

You're an idiot, neither of them were twenty in high school. It wasn't fair though, you're right about that, Andy Powell was a man among boys in high school as was Franklyn Sanchez, but it had nothing to do with their age, they were just better.
I bet they were at least 19 when they finished HS, and I said "about 20" 19 is a lot closer to 20 then 17 the last I checked and makes a big difference in development. No wonder they were running so fast. I nknow of freshmen and sophs in college that were younger than they were.

are you forgetting that the us junior record is set by age, not year in school? sanchez is the second fastest american junior 5k runner of all time.
sanchez was 17 when he ran in highschool. i was 18 and graduated the same year as him.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
