I’m tired of this where people time trial fast times and then stink it up when it matters. Dude runs NCAA record and can’t even make it to finals. Tactical race and all but arguably you want to be better at those then time trials.

You are tired of something that is part of the world of racing. I suggest you find another sport to watch, or that maybe you get some help for your fatigue.
Murphy closed in 51.1 and was the first guy not to make it. Running 3:33 and closing in 50.x are two completely different skill sets.
Yeah but Liam is the one that made the race strategic by going to the front and slowing down. He thinks he is a good kicker but has NEVER out kicked these guys at the top.
100% massive error by athlete and coach, they should have made it honest from the front like Witt of Princeton in heat 2.
DES MOINES, Iowa ? Senior standout Kyle Merber concluded his distinguished Columbia career Thursday night in the men's 1,500m semifinals of the 2012 NCAA Division

My college coach used to say, "The problem with big kickers is that they often get beat be other big kickers."
With that said, I believe the Princeton kid is ready to make the leap to the next level. I just have a hunch.
I understand why Liam Murphy might be disappointed with Liam Murphy's performance. I really don't understand how or why Liam Murphy's performance disappoints you.

As Dwight Stones said, "Sometimes you outsmart yourself." Maybe he thought he was the next Centro or Mario Garcia Romo.
Heat 1 was overthought and micromanaged. nobody was racing to win, they were racing not to lose. that's a horrible mindset to take into any race.
Murphy normally runs smooth and focused, but he kept looking around at everyone, like he was running their races and not his own. and Sahlman, when he got to the front of the pack he immediately pumped the brakes, afraid to take the lead, and got dumped all the way to the back. way too much thinking and thinking and thinking, a recipe for disaster.
Villanova coaches to peak at the Penn Relays, which is why they have so many wheels. That’s how they have been operating for decades.
Definetely didn't do that this year lol. Murphy got outclassed by Green twice at Penn.
Think it was just a lack of preparation and some bad tactics.
Really no reason why a 13:10 guy/7:35 guy should be willing to leave it so slow that the whole field closes in 50. Regardless of how well he thinks he can close
