Based on his sentiment, which I agree with, it's tragic every time an international student takes a roster spot or a scholarship from an American kid.
USA is only 4% of the world's population, and NCAA rosters are getting significantly smaller. How will the local kid from Detroit with no real coaching compete against literally every 18 year old on the planet for a spot on an NCAA team? Hint: he's not getting a roster spot anywhere.
Unless something is done, NCAA track will end up like NCAA tennis where internationals make up 60% of ALL student athletes. And honestly 90% of the NCAA championship competitors will be international athletes. And this would be the end of our sport because ratings will drop - no Americans want to watch that.
