NB Boston - Is Something Up? Confirmed: Mackay & MacLean have left group

It's SO dumb to have a pro group training in Boston. Terrible place to run and Mark is not that good.

Parker Valby was just too hot to throw in the mix. Destroyed the group.

You people sound like a 12-yo girl who sees a boy and girl talking at school and immediately start spreading gossip that they are a couple.

It seemed like an uncomfortable fit with coach and the group when Valby joined. Yet, with Elle and Heather back this would have been an astonishingly good group, with three 3:55-58 type runners. Mackay had such a good year last year that there must be something personal going on here. 1:57/3:55 for a former Binghamton runner is totally unexpected, but then how likely was it for her former teammate, a UNH grad (Pierre), to be a world indoor gold medalist?

Did she not recently get engaged? Perhaps a location issue?

Something is going on. We still haven't heard from Valby or her dad; its been over a month since Gaults report on that. NB Boston was very transparent about training and all up until this year and now totally silent.

Her fiancé's job allows him to be with her wherever she is. Unless he changed jobs.

Not sure the demise of the group Parker joined less than 10 months ago was one of the huge surprises he had in mind. Also am I right that the only race Parker's run in a NB kit was their indoor invite in Boston?

Given Valby's lack of durability and well known need to cross train in lieu of running even middle of the road mileage, I continue to be surprised that NB went all-in. Wonder how they're feeling about the investment at this point.

Did Heather's instagram used to list TeamNBBoston? I think it did. It now only says NB.

Totally not related: We only knew Shelby was provisionally suspended because she told us.

I'd say they are feeling damn good. She made headlines when she took the lead with 1400m to go in the Olympic 10000m and finished 11th. One if the youngest Olympic distance runners the US has ever produced. Had two dramatic finishes in the Trials to make the team. Had the greatest individual season in collegiate distance running history. Had 54,000 instagram followers after her NCAA CC win and now has 190,000 and almost 4 million Likes on TikTok.

I wonder how Adidas is feeling about the investment they made in Valby's classmate? It's been 18 months now.

Parker just posted on instagram that she is still injured. Is the timing with this thread/story a coincidence?

Lol at making headlines taking the lead in the Olympics. Yeah, sure.

Don't disagree with you on the social media angle, so far, although that's a fickle thing and requires the content creator to be constantly relevant.

Other than an update post just now outlining a foot injury, she hadn't posted anything on Instagram since February.

Given the lack of transparency in the sport and the way positive doping tests are buried and denied for months, who knows what is going on. But this has the hallmarks of trying to control the damage of an unreported positive similar to the Shelby situation.

At least New Balance got an Olympian. Tuohy will never be an Olympian. Adidas must be pretty upset about their investment in Tuohy.

Not that big of a deal, people move around all the time. I think more athletes are going to do their own thing. With the amount of training information out there I think it is becoming easier and easier.

Coogan is a great coach, had success everywhere but maybe the relationship got stale.
