Got to admit, I am proud of the kid for putting it all out there, but starting to get a tad worried about him. Hoping I am wrong.
He split 43.99 a day after splitting 44 I think he’s fine. Great he ran 1:50 last year, yes he’s way off that this year. If he doesn’t run any faster than he did last year in the 400 guess what? HES STILL RUN 44.2 IN HS. If gets close to that this year that should be a massive success after the Olympics.
Justin Robinson also ran 44.6 or 44.7 his JR yr. Never won NCAAs came damn close in the 4x4 and was a relay stud. World champ medalist although it’s in the mixed. Point is we have no idea what the trajectory is for Quincy, if you think you can coach him better, do it!
I'm a St. Albans parent (who didn't have a runner in this race) and want to give a shout out to Quincy Wilson for competing in his HS league championship meet and running in what isn't his main event. Probably no upside for him personally to compete, and yet he was there for his HS team. I know it was a thrill for St. Albans to compete against the Bullis team of Quincy and teammates (all great runners, including Colin Abrams with a 1:51.3 split) and it resulted in an amazing HS league championship race in which both teams beat the prior IAC meet record and posted top 70 national times. Huge kudos to Charlie Palmore, a junior at St. Albans and the anchor leg, who had the heart and speed to not give up when he was about 60m back on an Olympian with 500m to go, and seniors Sebi Hume, Liam Quinn, and Laszlo Wolfe. it was an amazing race to watch!
Classy and wholesome post. More of this on the boards, less trolling.
Would love to see a video if it’s out there. Sounds like fantastic HS racing.
My 2 cents. When we ran 1:50 last year he basically followed his teammate. They were obviously leading going into his leg. I am guessing while he is excellent at the 400 he hasn't run enough 800's to understand the pacing. To run an 800 all by yourself is a completely different thing than running behind someone.
