I seriously can't believe the sheer incompetence sometimes. The JV assistant, the same bloke who managed to coach his wife all the way to a Silver Medal and Boris Berian, that lad, to an indoor gold medal and the Olympic Final – even that doesn't seem to make a difference. This site shows a complete lack of respect and acknowledgment for achievement. It really blows my mind seeing this level of cluelessness.

Never been to the west coast and a proud Bostonian, I’m still a long-time follower and fan of Coach Brosnan. Whether you love him or not, he has established himself as one of the most well known coaches in the running world. This announcement is truly fantastic for the entire running community.

Mammoth isn't near anything anyway. It's about as far as LA is distance wise, but you don't have to deal with traffic getting out of there.

Big Bear is definitely more affordable compared to Mammoth Lakes, with much more better rent prices and just an hour's drive from Sea Level. Sitting at 6800ft, Big Bear Lake offers everything in the area around 7000ft to 7500ft. It’s a cool mountain town

Does big bear have a synthetic track in town?

Big Bear High School has just unveiled a brand new track. Although I’m almost positive that Brenda Martinez used to make the trek of driving an hour down the mountain for most of her challenging track sessions in the past. Perhaps that's one of the main reasons why training in Big Bear is so appealing. It's quite rare to have the ability to transition from 7000ft altitude to sea level in such a short drive.

I coach a high school in the LA area for cross country, and we've always held our pre-season summer camp in Mammoth. However, after discovering Newbury Park's training videos in Big Bear, I was inspired to make a change.
I decided made a two-hour drive to experience running in Big Bear at Holcomb Valley, thanks to the maps provided by Sean Brosnan from Newbury Park after I emailed him. The dirt roads and trails were absolutely amazing, and I was truly impressed.
After this eye-opening experience, I have decided to switch our pre-season camp to Big Bear this year. It's a close drive from LA, and I believe we will get much more value out of our dollars the fantastic trails and beautiful surroundings that Big Bear has to offer.
I still appreciate the beauty of Mammoth's lakes, but when it comes to training, I truly believe that Big Bear is the better choice. Mammoth is typical California overpriced and Big Bear is not.
