Anson Henry... no. Definitely the weak link on the commentating by a long ways.
I'm Canadian so I'd like to say that he's doing a good job. But his repetitive 'I don't know, man...', 'don't ya think, man?', 'he was cruisin, man!' is getting pretty old. Especially juxtaposed with Cram's commentary. I'll give it to Cram - internally he's probably rolling his eyes at the inane remarks coming from the 'sprint expert', but he never lets on, and does a great job using Henry's chatter as a springboard into more meaningful remarks.
Curious why they chose Henry. Surely there has to be a better choice... even in Canada - get Mike Smith (retired decathlete), who's incredibly knowledgeable, very articulate, and has loads of experience.
I get that they'd want someone more current, but where's the valuable 'expert commentary'? I always find that watching the CBC broadcast of international events (worlds and Olympics) with Mike Smith is incredibly educational. He talks about the ideal angle of release for (eg) shot and javelin, explains nuances of pole vault, long jump, and sprints. How is 'that's a fast time - especially when he's cruisin', man!' supposed to be informative? It isn't...
