Oh well,if he gets a career ending injury, and never races at top level again,he's achieved what most athletes can only dream about. He's an all time great.
After all, the person who has run the fastest 1500m each year for the last 5 years is by definition a 1500m runner.
It just seems nuts to look at a guy who just set a world record in the indoor 1500m (en route) and won World Indoors and who was the fastest in the world last year and come to the conclusion that he is not a "real 1500m runner."
You guys are right that it is always going to be him vs. the whole field, so as long as anyone beats him, you can crow about your hot take. Meanwhile, all Jakob has to do is beat everyone in the field. That is, obviously, a lot harder.
Yep. If Hocker or Kerr are 3rd or 4th in a race nobody will bat an eyelid but if Jakob doesn't win it's a minor scandal in these boards :D
He ran 3:45 is a perfectly curated time trial, just like Aouita. Against his superior 1500m competitors, he very well may lose. Especially in unpaced races.
Going to have to agree here. He is a 3000/5000m runner who loves the 1500m too much. We'll see how he fares.
It’s kinda cool how he actually enjoys running an event he’s comparatively sucky at.
The three best 1500m runners have cemented their finishing speed and it is only May. I am almost 100% certain that Jakob will never win the 1500m at the WC or Olympics ever again, let alone medal even. He unfortunately will only be known as the lesser athlete like Said Aouita was in the 1500m who could only win weaker events (the 5000m). Oh well. He may lose at Pre as well as London in the diamond league as well.
Jakob is watching those guys race and they’re showing him exactly what he needs to work on.

This right here. As I've said in the past, dude just needs to let go of the 1500m and focus on the 5k and even 10k. He has so much more potential in those distances. And has already broken 3000M WR too.
Literally the only times he does well in a 1500m or mile is when there are pacesetters/wavelights

Didn't he win something in Tokyo in 2021?
Why go back to Tokyo 2021?
Didn´t he win 4 international championship finals earlier this year!?

It was his last global outdoor title at his main distance. Since then the next guys have always had the measure of him.
Fun fact, Saïd Aouita ran 1:43.86 on the 800m in the pre EPO, super spikes and bicarbonates era.
Yeah but not sure we should be championing Said Aouita as some bastian of clean middle distance running.
Also after watching Nuguse run under 1.45, the notion that Jakob is just "slow" and doesn't have the "speed" to run well under 1.45 is absolutely laughable. As it has been for years.
World championship title indoors does not count? A ton of European championship titles do not count? And so on...
Nope. Seems counterintuitive, but, like, actually it isn't. When I saw JI running an indoor WR for the 1500m on the way to setting an indoor WR for the mile a mere couple of months ago, I said to myself, now there's a guy who DEFINITELY needs to give up running the 1500/mile because he is demonstrably quite bad at it.

He effectively had a pacesetter in Tim Cheryuiot. If someone employed the same tactics in 2022, 2023 and 2024 that Cheryuiot did in 2021, Ingebrigtsen's 1500 global gold medal count might be very different. But they haven't, and he hasn't figure out how to win a 1500 without that.
Compare that to Kipyegon, who has proven she can win a 1500 in multiple ways. Ingebrigtsen has a much better chance of asserting a Kipyegon-like dominance in the 5000 than in the 1500. He still has to run a very fast 5000 to fully show that, but based on his 3000 WR that appears to be feasible for him.

Aouita won an Olympic bronze at 800m for years after winning a gold at 5000m. I cannot think of any other athlete who has managed that ...

Jakob is definitely capable of a 1:44 800m in my opinion. And as the distance moves up he just gets stronger and stronger. I expect he will completely dominate the 1500m/mile this season.

Whereabouts did Nuguse train to improve? Asking because certain people get away with whereabouts infractions and certain people don’t. Asking for a friend of course.
Most people aren’t aware of how legit your question and statements are. That said, it’s interesting that Mr. Whereabouts, Hocker, and Kerr are all slower than Steve Ovett, Jim Ryun, Dave Wottle, Pekka Vasala and others over two laps, others who ran a long time ago.
