Josh Kerr reminds me of a Canadian cyclist from way back who had immense talent but was incosistent. He was excellent when he was fit and thin but he always had to ride himself into shape. Kerr is excellent but I think has a tendency to be 5 lbs overweight that he constantly has to fight to keep off. When he is fit though he is very difficult to beat.
Does he post his daily weight online or is that 5 pounds visible to you.
Because grand slam is boring, what people running times women can beat in the 3k and the only reason Kerr won is because Emmanuel Wanyonyi wasn't here. Did you see Kerr after he won the 1500m in a slow time hopping around like he just won the Olympics. What a phoney :) I watched the Diamond league 5k in Shanghai and it was exciting, down to the wire Aregawi, Girma, Sime in a 12:50 race and less than a second between the top three so much better than watching 3k race won in 8:17.56. What are these guys going to run the 5,000 in 15 minutes. No the 1500 was not exciting but can't wait to see Kerr and all those guys get smoked in the 800. The GS is good for the sprints, for watching middle distance/distance running it sucks, 100% rather watch the Diamond League meets. Hey but the winners are getting paid and that is what this is all about!
Whether you’re a Kerr fan or hater, you’ve gotta admit that the sport is a lot more interesting when he’s at his best.
I was worried that he’d struggle to compete with these guys as he gets older but he’s still very much a contender for the WC this year.
We think of him as being around forever since he was elite in college (bursting onto the scene in beating Cheserek indoors), but Kerr is only 27. That’s older than the others, sure, but barring injury he should still have several years remaining of his athletic prime.
Don't really follow track running but it looked really easy for him?, almost like he was just doing a training run.
Just shows that he was more injured than we thought, effortlessly beat the Americans and would probably beat Ingebrigsten 7/10 times.
Not sure he effortlessly beat them, but it was a reminder that he is a savvy racer who beats Nuguse when Yared does the work and takes down Hocker if Hocker is training through. Wanyonyi got threads because he’s an 800 guy, was celebrating with 50 to go, and cruising through the finish.
I'm not surprised he won this race at all.
Nuguse and Hocker both had substantial indoor focus. Nuguse ran 3.46 and 3.47 indoors with Hocker almost covertly having a bigger campaign running a 2.18 kilo, the 7.23 3k and a 12.57 5k. Both of them look exactly how I would expect them to look - a combination of looking like they are trying to manage training with trying to be sharp for these "race focus" unpaced meets and the fatigue of clearly having been in very good shape 8 weeks ago. Both of them look like they are going through the motions.
Kerr might have been compromised in his off season, but that's not always a terrible thing as long as it's not a chronic issue which clearly it wasn't. On the plus side he started this series with no miles on the clock and it's easy to overlook that he actually ran very well in that first 1500m - 3.35 with a 52.3 last lap is not poor running. Sure he mailed in the 800 but I guess when you don't need the money that's fine.
So he comes here, he's fresher than almost all of those other guys and I'm sure he has some sense of pride as one of the OG "marquee" signings of this whole thing and needs to be make a statement of sorts. Not only do I think he was hyper-focussed to win that particular race, I think he was desperate to and it showed. To me the whole post race performance was actually quite genuine - I think he was just damn relieved to have won that, even if it's debatable in context how "big" a win that really is.

At the conclusion of the grand slam track Miami Florida I have a few disjointed highlights for all:
1. That Nuguse finally stopped that hormonally jarring hand signal for the feathers of a female goose while being introduced on the start line. That’s a very good start to not taint his image with such socially inappropriate gestures. Universally the goose, a bird, is associated with femininity and weakness while the lion or tiger is associated with masculine dominance, power, aggression and gangsterism. When an athlete stands on the start line we want to see a gangster of the jungle like a lion or tiger, we don’t want to see demure birdies and shy pussycats. Glad someone told Nuguse to desist from acting like a birdy or pussycat after Kingston Jamaica. Step in the right direction kudos to him. His start line persona in Miami was more attuned to proper social mores and propriety for masculine gender. Josh Kerr behaved correctly on the start line, putting on shades and acting like a Scottish gangster William Wallace. That’s what I signed up to see, kudos to Josh as well.
2. That finish line celebration by Josh Kerr is what every masculine born and bred athlete should endeavour to emulate and imitate. That masculine gusto, bravado, raging hormones, power aggression, alpha male ego is what keeps fans drooling over him and subscribing to all his YouTube channels and Instagram. Moreover he also won so all the more gusto, aggression and hot blooded emotion. Josh Kerr is William Wallace reincarnate.
3. Josh Kerr had the best most sexiest ( code for antigravity) masculine running technique out there. That synaptic coordination between his arms and legs and immovable steady center of gravity is like the Tchaikovsky orchestrated music piece in C minor, totally an erotic feast for the eye of the most hardened distance running analyst. Some on this forum believe Josh is running 3:24 this season which I think is a bit too much to ask. I would say a 3:25.90 at least by this year. It’s true that Josh Kerr at his best in a clean sport should not beaten by anybody but we all know how dirty the sport is.
4. One of the most obvious indicators of running fluidity is the rhythmicity of the arm carriage vibration. It should be resonant at the same angular velocity w=teta x t as the rest of the body parts like legs and joint rotators and exactly 180 degrees out of phase with one another. The physical conditional for mechanical resonance as electromagnetic ones is same frequency but phase shifted by 180 degrees. To my trained eye, only Josh Kerr exhibits these physical traits and evinced only by the rhythmicity of vibration in his arm swing.

As usual you are always in over your head! Josh Kerr was even more fatigued from last years indoor season running 2 mile WR in February and winning world indoors in march and still won all early season outdoor races and technically won Paris Olympic gold ahead of Hocker too. There was no fatigue or going through the motions. You are a professional athlete and there is no such excuse as being tired. They eat sleep and train so being tired is no excuse. If Kerr could do it why can’t Nuguse and Hocker keep winning in the outdoor season?
Well it’s because they are not as talented as our William Wallace reincarnate Josh MF Kerr. Hocker didn’t lead the race he should have won this one. Going by his close antics in Paris, why can’t he win this handily? He had acres of space in front and no need to decelerated and reaccelerate. Some say he is also on PEDs blah blah. And he still couldn’t dispatch a half baked Josh Kerr?
Whether you’re a Kerr fan or hater, you’ve gotta admit that the sport is a lot more interesting when he’s at his best.

Difficult for that to happen. I’m Kerr neutral although am very persuaded by his mechanically resonant and orderly masculine running technique. At 27, Kerr’s ongoing victories are either due to drugs or just great fortune due to great care with diet and nutrition like zeolite, line bark, liposomal vitamin C, thiamine b12, blue green algae and non toxic whole foods. I’ll wager it’s the latter rather than drugs.
Kerr’s career is testimony to what is possible cleanly if you really buckle down on eliminating toxic diets and eating whole rich foods. I note he uses a 5g line connection for his mobile phone and yet he seems to be impervious to the biological degrading effects of constant RF radiation on his body why? Diet seems to be the answer. Rest, sleep and recovery all these helps to push back and delay the onset of uncontrolled oxidative stress in the body and help maintain top physical performance shape. At this rate, seeing Kerr still beating Hocker and Nuguse so easily I think he may well go on to run till 29 but no more.
7/10 it was great timing/topic but you came on too strong at the end and it became clear it was a troll job
If the OP was me, I would have said the same thing a thousand over times. Kerr beats Jakob 7/10 times and beats him in all non paced races. Jakob has a less potent sprint biomechanics, shorter stride length and arms that are straitjacketed and not free flow pumping like Kerr’s. Want to know why Kerr is a 1500m authority? Look only at his arms will do. That rhythmicity is cue for mechanical resonance in his body head to toe. Standing magnetic waves of the earth are pulsing right through his body and propping him up, other words his energy is over-unity as if you are operating at to condition for mechanical and electromagnetic resonances, you take in free energy gifted by the earth from underneath you into your body in the form of standing magnetic waves which your competitors who aren’t doing so don’t have such advantage. Go study some physics.

It’s not every time LRC welcomes a physics genius to the board and I believe the Brojos are proud to host such an extraterrestrially profound comment that resonates at the chords of our psyche so deeply. Though I don’t profess to understand the majority of your comment, it’s ironic that my inaptness actually lend greater credibility to your comments. I’m sure everyone agrees with me on this.

Listening in on a Physics genius giving commentary on LRC is like rear naked choke submission in a ring, you just nod your head and give in. You don’t need to say a word we know who you are dude! You are a famous assassin of Physics if I may put it this way.
Kerr is poetry in motion, Nuguse repented from his feathery girly display, Hocker is not what we think he is, clean. Is there anything else you haven’t told us my man?
When was the last time Jakob ran slower than 3:30 outdoors? GST 1500m is a snoozefest.
You aim the question at the wrong dude. You should asking our Physics assassin who pulverises threads and remodel human psyche from stem cell scratch. Jakob I believe has reserved all his 3:30 and above races for euros, euro heats and world champs or Olympic heats.
