It seems like she made some poor decisions recently. She left Jerry Shumacher for Team Boss, which seems like it might have been a mistake. But now, she has decided to be coached by the assistant watch holder from NAU. It looks like she might need some help when it comes to making decisions.
She left BTC for personal reasons. Don’t feel like she’s doing poorly at the national level. She’ll still make US teams. I’m sure she and every other female else competing at 1500m+ would love to be medaling, but it’s just not happening for the American women right now. Don’t think it’s a Cranny-only issue.
I'm curious what group she should have gone with. Other than On and NB Boston, notable success on the track for American women has been minimal. And Monson, who competes in the same events as Cranny, was destroyed by On. Cranny's not going to Boston.
watching her run alone against all those East Africans reminds me of when Alabama football pays some FCS team to come to Tuscaloosa for a beatdown.
the race aside, it's a free weekend in Miami and a sweet appearance fee.
what was the alternative? flying to Indianapolis for the 5K road championship that pays $7 grand if she wins? I think it's 50 degrees and raining there this weekend.
There’s at least a couple US soccer players who most would consider world-class, Pulisic being the easiest example. Honestly his standing in the soccer world is rather similar to Cranny’s in distance running - one of the very best Americans, but merely very good compared to those at the absolute top of the sport. And I doubt any global football fan would take umbrage at describing Pulisic as a world-class player.

It’s a Cornfield situation. It seems like a real misstep choosing him. Her performance indoors at Millrose and the US Champs was underwhelming, and her outdoor performances haven't been any better. She’s being guided wrong by her coach at the moment. While she may not be in the running for a medal, it's clear that something needs to change for her to reach her full potential. It’s hard to watch at the moment.

It’s about to get bad at NAU. Things are looking pretty rough for next year and the situation seems to be getting progressively worse. It's quite surprising that Elise decided to pick Coach Cornfield out of all the great options available. She may need to acknowledge that it could have been a mistake at this stage.
RThe US men did better than any country for distance running in the last Olympics. I really believe that many posters don't pay attention but sort of shoot from the hip based on what they remember from 20 years ago.
Women's top level running is so doped up beyond belief that I don't even bother comparing our runners to the Kenyans and Ethoopians anymore.
Women have a lot more percentage points to "gain" than men do from taking testosterone and HGH. The Africans running sub 14, sub 29, and sub 2:10 might as well be men running 11:50, 25:30, and 1:55:00. Not even worth paying attention to, just a pharmaceutical exposition.
Love her but she gets her butt kicked against the Africans and others
It depends how you define world class. If it means good enough to qualify for world competitions, make finals and Diamond League meets, then yes she is world class. If it means being good enough to podium at these types of events, then no, she is not world class.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but she needs a new coach once again
This poses the question if there’s any sport in which an athlete in contention for best in the US at their particular discipline (which Cranny is) would not be considered world-class. Aside from incredibly niche sports that most of the world does not compete in, I’d argue there likely isn’t one.
Cricket. It is the second most popular sport in the world (after soccer) by the number of fans so it can't be considered niche. Field hockey is another one.

It’s gotten pretty bad. She should be in her prime.
Time to quit drinking the kool aid out of Flag and get in a serious training program tailored for EC before it’s too late.
I really think it's time for her to find a proper coach instead of hopping from one option to another. And you're absolutely right about the whole kool aid Flagstaff situation.

She needs a real training situation. Time is of the essence. It's crucial that she finds the right environment and coach. She has the talent , but being guided and or coached poorly

I’m sure Americans would never resort to pharmaceuticals, except of course for that steroid era in baseball. 😂
