I hate when people are fake when there are influencers who legitimately struggled and were open/honest and deserve respect.
People may or may not like Ali on the Run, for instance, but that lady beat Breast Cancer and also had some other health scares/Crohn's issues. She's a trooper.
Nice of you to mention Ali. She's one of the OG-running influencer...from 10+ years ago. I'm NYC based and she was too --- NYRR and all. Back in the day her blog was very big, and eventually I unfollowed and lost track, only to realize she's now interviewing pros/podcast and all. Good for her, shows that "staying the course" pays. She also had a (not so great) bf / husband who she's no longer with (good for you Ali). And a mom. And yes she hasn't had it easy. I remember reading the posts about finding restrooms in Central Park and thinking to myself how lucky I am that I only ever almost s*** myself once a year or less.
oh yes, on blogsnark people were giving her crap until more things came out--she did NOT have it easy like how some of the bloggers out there portray themselves. Crohn's is no joke, I truly am pulling for her (no sarcasm). She finally got rid of BoldCEO and she and her kid can start over.
I remember her blog around 2012-2013, she was a rando lady who picked up running, later went on to run decent times (21:xx 5k, 45:xx 10k, 1:36 half) for her AG, by 2022, pre-cancer. I'm glad she beat it--after numerous treatments.
Her cancer and Crohn's battle put everything in perspective for me--many are fighting battles we don't know about.
He never had an entry - he posted a story a few months out saying he was looking for one! You know what’s worse than not having an apology? Having an apology that contains lies with in it. Weak if he doesn’t confess on Instagram. Hoping LME making an example of him and post an article.
Yeah, I wondered if he'd actually be honest on what "my entry fell through" meant - anyone who stops to think for even a moment can see that as nonsense. And the claims about not understanding and making a misjudgement on taking the bib - again you'd have to be an idiot to think someone wouldn't know taking a (championship) place was wrong (as proven by the hiding the number for photos and taking it off immediately).
The fact that rather than post anything acknowledging this on any of his social media pretty much confirms that this isn't 'taking accountability for a learning opportunity', if you made a genuine mistake and are an influencer who - as he claims - really cares about integrity and the sport surely you'd post about the lesson you've learned to share it with others. If, however, you wanted to try and make it go away and try to minimise blowback you'd make a post or two on a single post on a relatively obscure forum, delete all the evidence of your misdeeds that you can, and delete any comments mentioning it on your social media.
At least Matt Choi made a legitimate apology for bikegate, rather than this mealy mouthed nonsense
As much as I disliked Choi and he screwed up for bikegate, he hasn't really had any issues with the public since.
Nothing… but hoping LME will release a statement. Maybe josh didn’t even send the email.
Or Josh himself. I mean, removing content is one thing. But nothing to acknowledge his wrong doing, or his disregard to the rules.
Let’s be honest here, LME don’t care about Championship runners. Last year they cut the qualifying time by 2 minutes 8-10 months (I can’t remember?) in to the qualifying period giving those with 2:38-2:40 barely any chance to hit the new standard. Combine that with restricting entrants there is now no absolutely guaranteed way to get through excelling yourself and really committing to training. Of course running faster than 2:35 will likely do the job but it’s still not guaranteed.
Also, the Matt Choi situation was all over the web so they had to do something about it. As much as it irritates me as well, I’d be amazed if a few disgruntled users on let’s run led to LME doing anything about it. Be great if that Marathon guy posted something.

Another crying vlog from Mary. Give it a rest. You weren’t fit enough you clown!
The collapsed in pure over emotion bit, like wtf are you an 1800s caricature of a hysterical woman? Be serious, it wasn't even that convincing.
The cynic in me says you've already ruined your big build up to a successful I just ran sub 2:50 story, need some content angle to push and so when you spot your pals you pick a convenient time to do a Gillian McKeith esque faint for content/bait.
I've never seen anyone fall quite like that during a marathon... Doesn't look particularly authentic does it.
I think the worrying thing from her perspective is trying to label it as a panic attack rather than the consequence of going out too fast. Marathons go wrong for everyone and that's totally fine, but you do need to learn what you can from the failure in order to avoid making the same mistakes in the future. She won't do that if she can't admit the issues in her approach in the first place. Though I guess her relationship with Runna will preclude her from an honest assessment of her training!
On a separate note, YouTube keeps pushing a running influencer called proddyc on me. He seems to have got into London on a charity bib, taken a load of free merch from Adidas to run in rather than wearing their vest, and he's only raised c.£500 (the charity will lose money if he doesn't raise the £2k minimum target).
I get that these guys are all show and v little substance, and they don't actually make much money despite the freebies, but they should at least be hitting the bare minimum fundraising requirements otherwise you're just ripping off the charity they're supposed to be representing (though let's be totally honest - these people are narcissists and only really capable of representing themselves)...
The London Marathon kinda sucks these days. Their goal to turn it into the largest mass participation run in the world has turned it into a conveyer belt of nonsense.
Hideously crowded. Over hyped and almost over supported. It’s crap. The majority of runners from my London club are done with it.
Anyway, on the day, people got surprised by the hottest day of the year so far and all, to a man and woman, went out too fast.
Everyone blew up.

This is true. It's moving further and further away from the club scene with every passing year. They reduced the number of places clubs get for providing volunteers as well. It'll always have a top elite field, but behind that, it's becoming more like a really long Parkrun and club runners are going to go elsewhere. Valencia is becoming huge now for club runners. It's not too expensive to get there, the course is amazing, and the weather is almost guaranteed to be good.

Best regards, Nicholas"
That is a sign they are aware, hopefully they know about LRC as well.

Yes, same for us. Valencia is very popular.
The ladies were very frustrated this year. The elite age category women were bumped up against the mass participation men running sub-3 and were pushed around as they all came hurtling through.
It’s just too big. Too many people. And it seems to epitomise the sort of smug, self-satisfaction of the UK, claiming to be the best but really being a bit rubbish.
An entitled, self obsessed, rude, embarrasing, average running influencer who is ruining the sport. Follow her account to see a boyfriend who follows her like a lost puppy and depressing reels on why London marathon was like someone dying
