I haven’t followed the thread in ages but do see him on Strava a fair bit. Seems he went through a “special block” where he extended his threshold reps and volume a bit - 3-5x 5k, some longer T efforts during long runs for example
This boards obsession with Sirpoc is border line creepy.
There's a zillion page thread dedicated to the trials and tribulations of YouTubers.
Find another hobby jogger like sirpoc, who has done more to help and improve hobby joggers and you'll be waiting a while.
Also to be already in your 40s and just turn up and run a 2:24 on a day everyone else apparently has fallen to bits, is ridiculously impressive. Also consider he's living the dream we all want, training smarter not harder.

Yeah. I don’t know what’s supposed to be “creepy.” He may not be a representative example (especially given his high-level cycling background), but he still presents the most visibly striking data points for how that training might work. He’s also been an enormous contributor to knowledge about the training and has been an insightful and affable participant here.
To add to that, it seems as though he’s been kind and helpful to other runners who have benefited from his advice. I would think that’s exactly the kind of hobby jogger lots of people here would be very interested in. And it seems like most of the interested people are really pulling for him to do well. And quite frankly, that’s a really welcome bit of community interaction to have in a place that can just be downright toxic at times.
Even though I wouldn’t call it “creepy,” the drawback remains that the guy still has to contend with more attention than he probably ever wanted. But I’m guessing that for just about everybody, their attention goes to him on those few minutes they look at the thread or the Strava group or think about the training: so it’s more or less like the way you might think about other participants on the message board, the people who cheer each other on in training threads, or people you’ve discussed training with, rather than some kind of weirdo obsession.
Amazing result for him. Very amusing he beat Ben Felton who is full of drivel and has zero idea about training. Shame 90% of hobby joggers will log onto his channel and think he is the guy to copy, when there is a goldmine of a LRC thread that will basically improve his audience more.
As others have said before, sirpoc seems like a genuine good guy so I am legitimately pleased for him. At that age, a 2:24 off that mileage is nothing short of spectacular, especially on a not particularly great day for it by all accounts.
Yeah, I guess it can work out that way. But the guy lives and trains by the sea so should be used to a bit of humidity. The weather shouldn't be a factor for anyone finishing under 3 hours. It's the mass runners starting after 10am and perhaps finishing at 2pm that I'm worried about. For UK weather, it's always best to go by the Met Office forecast. Other weather apps aren't as accurate, even the BBC app.
Yes, it's crazy how inaccurate the forecasts can be. BBC weather can be really off.
It feels WAY hotter in the sun than the feels like.
Don't know if I'm being silly but I swear the sun feels a lot hotter these days too!
