Yee would win. He's faster than Morgan Pearson, who did a 1:01:01 half marathon..faster than Jacob. He went out too fast, but if he couldn't pace himself for a half, he will certainly run into problems in a full.
Jakob had just come off an entire season of training for the 1500m
The truth is that if Jakob was in full marathon training mode, he could run a 2:11 marathon (Yee's debut) as a workout
Kinda ironic the arguing point against Jakob is that he is a 1,500/5k guy when simultaneously there is another thread talking about Hassan and Assefa running 1:56 and 1:59 in the 800.
Alex, and it wouldn't be close. I have no doubt that Jakob will be a world class marathoner if and when he decides to make that transition, but his current training does not lend itself to that (see Copenhagen HM attempt).
What a strange post.
In Jakob's only HM attempt, off of 1500/3000 training, he went out with the leaders at 58:00 pace, splitting 27:27. You think that means he can't race a slow 13:26 / 27:51 guy in the HM or marathon??
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
1. Alex Yee has never run a 10k or track 10,000 faster than his 27:51 track PR, including a perfect opportunity on the road in Valencia where he ran 28:05 to place...27th. (The winner was 26:53.) He is simply a turtle.
2. Jakob may have blown up running 58:00 pace without properly training for it, but he certainly could have run sub-60:00 and EASILLY could have run sub-61:00 that day if he had any interested in running slow a slow pace when the leaders were chasing 58:0x.
3. It is obvious that 2:11 marathon pace is something Jakob could hold for 150 minutes if not longer. 3:06/km pace lolol. 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢
