Can anyone actually verify this? I run NAIA as well and I’ve heard about these accusations since last year, but all I've been able to find out about it is hearsay. I’m not saying he didn't do the things he's accused of ,but the accusations are so serious that I’d expect something more concrete.
source: am friends with half of the Portland team. yes they’re true and it’s at least as bad as you’ve heard
Why aren't you friends with the other half of the team?
Portland dropped the investigation cause they came to a compromise of him leaving the school. I worked with one of the women on the team over the summer and she said they did a full investigation with multiple complaints and that was the only way he would get off without any serious repercussions.
Under Oregon law, if she could not give overt consent due to incapacity or inebriation, then any sexual act is considered rape. If no one in attendance made a good faith effort to stop a criminal act from happening, then those individuals and, presumably, the institution could also face legal issues.
I speculate that she got her degree at no charge and some money courtesy of the school while he was told to leave immediately or have the matter turned over to the police.

It's difficult to comment definitively, as no one wants to make assumptions or risk a defamation claim—even under the veil of anonymity. However, based on what others have publicly shared in this forum, along with what I've heard from fellow Portland alumni (myself included), it appears that multiple witnesses from both the men's and women's programs reported the incident—either to the University's Public Safety office or to local authorities. As a private institution, the University of Portland has the authority to enforce its disciplinary code, as outlined in its student handbook. From what I understand, the individual may have chosen to leave the university rather than face potential further action, which could have included involvement by the Portland Police Bureau.
