I would be so hype to do this if I was an adidas athlete. An all expense paid trip to global headquarters to race in a very fun, intimate environment where the stakes probably aren’t the craziest. Maybe some other brands can adapt this.
Adizero: Road to Records is an annual elite running event hosted at the global headquarters of adidas in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Established in 2021, it is usually held at the end of April across a single day. The event is s...
12:54 on the roads for Kejelcha is super impressive. So is Wanyonyi winning a mile. He’s a huge threat for the World’s 1500.
Looked like a turn-heavy tough course to run fast on. Kejelcha is in sub-12:40 shape right now I believe.
N'Getich is so good, under 29:30 just pacing herself the whole way.
Alamisi was impressive today running 13:03 for runner-up, Kenyan 5K team real threat. Men's 10K nothing really jumped out, I don't see any of the guys under 27 contending for a medal. Women's 5K, Eisa has the pedigree and the turn of speed, but needs to up fitness to get into the medal mix.
Women's mile I guess we can conclude that Nelly Chephirchir pulled out of Kingston GST with either a change in her plans or visa difficulties, she looked amazing.
Hobbs is definitely deep in training, he looked pretty much at his max once Wanyonyi went for it, which he wouldn't if he was in his Millrose form. Good performance by Nico to almost get to him. Wanyonyi is going to be a monster in championship 1500s when he makes the move probably in 2027. You can see he's got tactical acumen and then his finish is always well-timed and executed just like in the 800.

Regarding Ngetich, I’m always surprised that women only records are that much slower. I wonder if it’s partially because they’re seldom contested nowadays. Obviously the pacers do help, but 30 seconds in a 10k?
I think Wanyonyi could potentially try the double this year. Hop in a Diamond League race and follow the pack behind Jakob to a 3:32. He’s in shape for it. And then he’s an absolute menace in a championship final. It would be four straight days of racing though (1500 semis, 800 heats, 1500 final, 800 semis). That might be a problem, but I don’t see him having real trouble before final in the 800, he’s too good tactically.

I think this course might be 10-15 seconds slower than Valencia due to the turns. And 15 seconds for pacing over 10K I could see.
That just looks too risky a schedule for Wanyonyi to me. We saw in Jamaica he was compromised a bit after the 1500, which would mimic a semi. Sure he’d be OK for a heat but he would possibly end up getting off the medals in both with the tired legs imo.
The course might be a little faster than last year, particularly the mile. Last year there was a left turn about 70m after the start; they moved the start to a different road so the first turn was at about 150m. The biggest difference, though, was the finish. Last year, they made a sharp right turn with about 175m to go and then a sharp left with about 60m to go. This year, they finished on the road and eliminated both turns. Instead of a 60m final straightaway, it became a 170m final straight. Much better for the runners and the spectators. I don't know why they didn't use this setup last year.
