How good the runner in 2nd is, plays a big part in margin of victory. If Nico Young was in the race, he would have been the 20 seconds behind guy, in 2nd place.

Everyone likes to pick on Vin. What he does well is keep his distance runners healthy and consistent. He has to, since he invests in total t&f rather than just distance.
Runners like Martin and Appleton show up every season and maybe not always champ, but in shape to compete.
Vin took Dartmouth to back-to-back 2nd place finishes at cross nationals. That's gotta be on the short list for most impressive NCAA coaching achievements.
Without a doubt. Martin has shown an extreme amount of patience and trust in his training. Super stoked about his progression.
What exactly is so extreme about it? I know I’m being a dick, but he hasn’t done anything (patience-wise) that thousands of other ncaa athletes haven’t done.

I’m actually super excited for this guy. He’s a bit like a “silent assassin”. Head down, working hard and out of sight until he turns up and runs an impressive time. Only 21. Predicting a big future for him.
